Patches and pins on leather coats
« on: September 07, 2009, 08:42:11 AM »
I have been collecting Honda pins and motorcycle patches over the years and have been contemplating putting them on my leather jacket. It is a cafe style leather jacket with the collar with the 2 buttons on top with zippers on the cuffs, you know the one. The wife says no it would look dumb and take away from the look of not only the coat, but the bike as well. What do you guys think? Any pics would be helpfull. Is there a limit on how many is too many
thx
cheers

I'll post a pic when I'm home in a few days.

On my black leather jacket I have a NREMT-P paramedic pin on the right collar.  On the left I have a SOHC4 pin and a Triumph pin.  Looks okay to me.  Patches would be fine, too; if that is what you want.  I had a SOHC4 patch and a Honda 750Four diamond patch on the reflective vest that I wear at night and in the rain.  Just didn't want to do the work of putting them on my jacket. The vest was easier, even though I often don't wear it.  My wife has a Honda pin on the collar of her leather jacket.

I originally wanted to patch up my Joe Rocket perferated coat but was told by the seamstress that the patches wouldnt stay on for long. You have had some sucess with yours? I really like that coat , it is very versitile, and is loaded with armor. In the Fall I pull out a liner from a jacket I wear hunting and I do stay relativly warm.

The wife could be right.  In my opinion, there is definitely such a thing as 'too many.'  Sometimes less is more.  You don't want to look like... how did Ecosse put it in the Inspiration thread... ah yes, 'like the Ace Cafe threw up on you.'

I have one patch on each sleeve, and one on the front.  I'm contemplating putting a 750-Four patch on the lower back.  But that would be it for me.  Any more and I would look like a kid that was patch-happy.  I shy away from pins because I don't want to always worry that one fell off.

But that's just me.

Or you could have two jackets.   ;)

I saw Spikeybike's jacket in person and he has a few patches on his leather jacket.
I liked the look. Ask him for a few pics to see what it looks like.
