750F0 Airbox Question
« on: August 16, 2011, 08:27:37 PM »
Hello All,

I am trying to disassemble the airbox on my '75 750F for cleaning/restoration.  Should be easy but I can't seem to get past the 2 bolts that hold the upper and lower halves of the box together.  The 2 bolts in question are in the top half of the air box and have what appears to be a spacer pressed on just above the threads.  The top half of the box has 2 pieces.  This spacer effectively prevents you from separating the 2 pieces of the upper half of the airbox.  Has anyone else out there come up against this?  Any ideas on how to take the top half of the airbox will be helpful!

Thanks!

Scott

not sure i understand your question . if you are trying to take the box in half there are two screws or bolts that attach to the reseted bolts you are talking about on the other side take those two screws or bolts out and it will come right apart they are on the side that has the mounting brackets for mounting it to the frame hope this helps

Same box as my F1 and a pain until you get it. The box has, as you say, two long bolts from the top that pass through the top half and then are held in by two small threaded spacers. The bottom half has two larger bolts that are actually sleeves threaded inside that thread into the upper half bolts. The threadded spacers are there to hold the top half together, but should unscrew easily from the bolts on the top half, allowing you to get the whole airbox apart for cleaning or whatever.
All you gotta do is do what you gotta do.
