How to remove petcock from Honda CL90 tank?
« on: September 10, 2009, 11:23:47 PM »
There's probably a really simple answer, but I haven't been able to find it by searching, so I ask:

I'm rebuilding a 1968 CL90 and need to remove the fuel petcock from the tank for cleaning and refinishing. There are only three screws or nuts externally: two screws holding the lever on, and one hex on the bowl. When I remove the bowl there are no new screws exposed. I tried gently rotating the entire petcock to see if it unscrewed from the tank, but it didn't budge and I didn't want to break anything. Can anyone tell me how it is removed?

Remove the bowl, then the brass screen to expose one phillips head screw. If your lucky, it will not be rusted away. If you are not, then better get the drill out and use left hand drill bits.

Ha! There is was hiding :). And luckily the screw was not rusted at all. Too bad I can't say the same for the rest of the tank...

Thanks for the helpful and fast response.
