Good morning from ABQ, NM
« on: September 12, 2009, 11:40:43 AM »
Hello all.
I just had the pleasure (kinda) of picking up a 73 CB500K2 yesterday. The only reason I say kinda is that I wound up pushing it up hill for a mile to get home. Bike is in rough shape, but I don't mind working on it :D It's not my first bike, but it is my first carb'd bike. I kinda got it so I could have something cheap with two wheels since my 07 ZX-6R was stolen from in front of my appt.
What else about me? I'm an EMT who is 4 weeks from becoming a Paramedic, I work in a hospital, and I'm pursuing dual degrees in Paramedicine and Nursing. I also have an 83 Jeep CJ7 that I am in the process of working over to fix it up.
Nice to find a place to come to talk about these bikes.

As far as I know, what I need to do first are: Battery (charge or replace), clean or replace carbs, new tank mounts, pillion seat rubber, seat bar hinge piece (hinge is there, bar is not), general tune up, get shorter throttle and clutch cable.
Pictures to come when I get home.

Welcome.  I'm sorry to hear about your ZX-6R.  I never like hearing about someones bike being stolen, no matter the make and model.
Now  1972 CB350FX (experimental v2.0)
        1981 CB650c Custom with '79 engine (wifes)
        1981 CB650 engine

Then 1972 CL175

Thanks. That was actually the second bike that was stolen from me... Each time it was as secure as I could make it (which living in an apt is hard to secure them). Now it lives in a locked shed along with about 4 other bikes on property (This is a new complex)

Doesn't look like much, but she's mine!

And that's my project CJ7 in the background.
