400 tank on..
« on: December 05, 2005, 11:03:15 PM »
hello everyone.  ive been lookin around and tryin to figure out if a similar year cb400 tank will fit on a 76 cb550?  if so, has anyone on here done the swap and have pictures available??  is it long enough or to long?  i like the more square look than the big red bulb ive got.  would be interested in a trade if anyone is up for it, i can post close up pictures if anyone wants.... my tanks clean on the inside and one little dent under the left honda badge...thanks for your time and energy! leeaaron!

Can't help you with the tank, but isn't the Metal Queen singing jazz now?
If it's worth doing at all it's worth over-doing.

Sick, I was wanting to go the other direction and put a more rounded tank on my 400. They do not interchange. Frames and mounting are different.  However, In my opinion, if you do a pro repaint and get rid of the stinky stripes I think you'll find you've got a real good looking tank.
Sorry- I wish it would work, too.

SICK---> I am sure you could fab-up some mounts to make the tank work.
Alittle wekding here , maybe a cut their , etc...
Anything can be made to fit , just a matter of if it's worth the time/money/hassle/etc....

It looks like it could be made to work, I just get nervous about cutting up tanks. The only one I know of is on my bike- sorry again  :-*
Would definitely like to see how it turns out, though.
