I used rattle-can high-temp paint on my CB200. It held up great and would be easy to touch up if it got scuffed. I didn't have any problems with that until I dripped some brake fluid on there, the paint didn't like that.

I just scuffed up the chrome and hit it with the paint.

Laminar I really like the look of your bike. That is similar to the look I am trying to achieve. What do you do to "scuff"up the rims?

I got my chrome removed and them powdercoated for $110.  I think I got a good price and for that, its worth it to me to not have to worry about chips and brake fluid as mentioned.

Save up and do the powdercoating. You will never regret the wait.  Had both rims and hubs powdercoated for $50.00.

thats a really good price, my local shop wanted $100.00 EACH
i ended up using vht brake caliper paint, goes on really nice and looks great
Funny thing about regret is...... its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done.

How does that mechanical disc brake work on the 200?

I grabbed a whole 200 front end from the salvage yard, & was wondering? (not thinking of using it on a heavier bike btw)

Found a couple of links for the Duplicolor Wheel Paints.  Sounds interesting.  Says the clear (WP103) is chemical resistant.  Wonder if it will hold up to brake fluid and or gas?

The cable pulls on a lever in the caliper which is attached to a helical worm drive with the brake pad on the other end. It's  like turning a bolt via a cable operated lever except the 'thread' is a big chunky thing - some jap bikes have clutch operating arms that work the same way.

great tips lone X not sure why it got moved. I originally thought to place it on this section, but thought it was more appropriate for the tips/tricks. Who am I? I appreciate all the help. I have done my tank and side covers. It's my first attempt at paint and I wish I would have done things differently. Not enough filler where the emblems were and I wish I would have put them back on.  Oh well it is a F frame with K tank and K seat. I still have the F tank that has been media blasted and my F seat in the garage. I tossed up the idea of selling those to pay for a professional paint job

I haven't used a bike with a front drum, but it's terrible when compared to any hydraulic front disc I've used. The first time I rode a bike with a hydraulic front brake it was my buddy's SV650 and the first time I hit the front brake I was used to grabbing as hard as I could, so I ended up completely locking the front tire and almost dumping the bike.

I've scuffed up both bike sets with a couple passes of varying steel wool.. then a etching primer...followed by black ceramic heat paint and then clear coat...    the hardest part is taping off the spokes.

What do you do to "scuff"up the rims?

I used a wire wheel on a drill.
