Not very close but I had a Fairlane when I was 16. Four Door and a huge back seat.

I didn't put much money into that car either. I think they look good beat up and fast as hell.

Nice project you got there. ;D

My aunt had a new 64 Galaxie 500 in Wimbledon White w/black interior.  I liked how the windshield curved in the corners.  She kept it for 6 years.

I have been trying for a few years to get my father to buy a 1963 or 1961 Galaxie 500 XL as a hobby car.  We have looked at several, but nothing we considered a deal we couldn't pass up.  I just love the look of the early 60s Ford fastbacks.  Does yours have a 4-speed or an Automatic?
I love it either way.  Does the 390 4-barrel have enough grunt to make those cars feel quick?  I know they were fast in their day, but what about compared to modern average cars?  I drove a stock 1965 Oldsmobile 442 as my daily driver for 6 years.  It never felt very fast, even though it was rated at 345Hp and 440ft*lbs.  I always assumed the 2 speed automatic was why it felt sluggish.  So I did a tranny swap to a Muncie 4 speed.  It is now more fun to drive, but doesn't really feel any quicker.  Oh well.  I still like driving it. - I like the look of your galaxie.  I much prefer the rat look to a pristine stock one with the fender skirts and a continental kit...

i had a 64 with the 406 in it a few years back. what a monster that thing was, it had good heads and a nice hot cam, it flew. is yours the cruise-o-matic or a manual? mine was the top loader 4 speed. black with red interior. i sold it in 2005 when gas got too high for me to be able to drive it.

Of all God's creatures there is only one that cannot be made the slave of the lash. That one is the cat. If man could be crossed with the cat it would improve man, but it would deteriorate the cat.

My uncle had a black 64 390 Galaxie fastback with 3 on the tree. Black walls and dog dish caps. My cousin ran the S%$@** out of it and finally wrapped it around a pole in about '68 and limped away from it.

I had a 65. 289, the biggest back seat in high school.

This last weekends Food Lion Auto show at Lowe's motor speedway featured the Galixie 500 several dozen on display.

Dad had a red 65 convertible when I was a kid. Red interior with a white top. It was a beauty.
One Fourth of July when I was 8 or 9 he told me to unzip the back window so he could put the top down and we'd go get some more fireworks. I didn't know you had to push it down in the window well so it was laying on top. Dad gets in, cranks it up, pushes the button to make the top go down, then the sounds of the electric motor straining...then POW!!!. The back glass shattered in a zillion pieces. Needless to say we didn't go get fireworks.
I wish I had that car.
