CB650 Carb Fixed Jet Blocked - How to clear?
« on: September 23, 2009, 07:52:45 AM »
Hey there - I finally got my carb bank all re-disassembled so I could take a close look at #3 - the bike is running on the other 3 cylinders but cylinder #3 is getting no fuel, even though the #3 carb has a full bowl. I broke that carb down, soaked it overnight and then rinsed out all the jets etc. as well as every opening in the carb body and blew them all out with compressed air.

The upshot is that the 'fixed jet' - ie. the pipe next to the tube that houses the main jet and needle jet (see the attached image) - appears to be completely blocked - even after soaking twice now with carb cleaner and blowing it out carefully, I can't get any compressed air through there. I think/assume this is supposed to be clear? If so, and carb cleaner and compressed air won't clear it, what should I do - can I try feeding some wire up there to try to open it up?

Got it out - definitely all gummed up in there. Soaking once again in the carb cleaner - then we'll see. Thanks!!
