parts compatibility: 77 parts on a 78 CB750A
« on: October 01, 2009, 09:23:06 AM »
I found a couple of parts on ebay that look to be in much better condition than the ones on my bike, I was thinking about swapping them out.  All of the parts are for a 77 CB750A, I own a 78 CB750A.

They are:
Points plate cover

Torque Converter Cover

I'm about 98% sure that there would be no difference between the two years for these parts anyone want to help me out with that extra 2% of confidence?

Also, I'm having some real trouble getting my gas line to seal around the petcock, I have the little torsion spring wrapped around the connection but it is still dripping gas on to my engine.  Any Ideas?

I've never seen one that small, I guess I'll hit up a hardware or automotive store this afternoon.  Thanks.

Just redid a 77 CB750A last winter. Those parts are the same for 77-78. Torque converter covers are very hard to find. How's your parking brake?

I purchased Honda fuel hose from the local lawn mower shop. They call it "4 1/2 mm". Used on Honda mowers and generators. NO MORE LEAKS!

Thanks for the info everyone, my parking break works, most of the time.  Really, I just have to play with it for a little while sometimes but I've always gotten it eventually.  I think I'm going to order those parts this weekend and enjoy a slightly shinier bike.

They should have them. Back when we used mechanical fuel pumps on cars, the fuel filter needed ones this small.

RE Parking brake. Remove the 2 screws on the cover and grease the rachet mechanism with white grease.  Seemed to fill with dirt and water. If it works too hard, will break the cable and THEN you are SOL. Cables are NOL.
