another company that has gotten a lifetime customer
« on: September 19, 2009, 01:04:20 PM »
my other major hobby other than bikes and guitars is model building. i had purchased several kits last year when a local hobby store went out of business and last week, when i opened one of the kits, the "glass" section was missing. i emailed Revell and they ended up sending me a whole new kit along with an apology for the inconveience and a thank you for buying their product.

Nice.  I've been a fan of Revell models since I was a kid.  Always good to hear that a company still cares about customer service like this.

That's definitely worth a shot with the other manufacturers, not much to lose if they won't pony up...

That IS nice to know. I've done a few of those models myself, such as : AMT, Johan, Revell, Momogram and I think there was another one, but not sure. Fact is, I've still got some and also some that have never been finished. ::) Got at least one, maybe 2 66' Dodge chargers, a 69' General Lee Charger, a 70' Superbird. 2 69' road runners (thinking about getting those 2 out and do them up in the colors of the ones that Brenda and I had. 8) ;) Also got one of the Dodge full size vans with a Hemi mounted behind the front seats. I've got some others that I can't think of what they are right now.

                                               Way to go Jeff, Bill

BTW, I picked up on a Honda CB77 Super Hawk a week or so back, that was made by Lindberg, that I am going to put together (It was already opened and some parts painted) and do it up like my 66' CB72 Hawk. :)

You know Jeff, I think YOU have just given ME some motivation to see about setting up an area in my home, for me to see about finishing up some of those models that I have had for so long. ;) I have had the notion, off and on, for years and just never seemed to get to them. Thank You for unknowingly doing that! 8)

I, too, used to be really into the Revell, et al, kits as a kid.

I started building a few with my own kids over the years, but they never really seemed to be into them, so they both are still unfinished.  Maybe I'll get back to them...   :)

I used to build 'em and display 'em for a year or so, then eventually run out of room and the ones that got demoted would get blown to bits by me and my brother with firecrackers!

 ;D

I had a cousin in California, years ago, who would take a basic model car kit and cut the doors, hood and truck open, make hinges and have them operate (before the model companies did it) and do up things like spark plug wires, brake lines, fuel lines,etc... It was always exciting to me, to see what he would do next, to make them so realistic. He also mixed up different colors of paint, to come up with some Fantastic colors and did flame jobs, along with pin striping that was masterful! 8) ;) Sure wish I had some photos of those models, to show. I NEVER was THAT talented. :(

                                          Thought I'd share, Bill ;)

It's always nice to know there are honarable companies out there.

I haven't built any models since I was a wee lad. Never seems to be able to find the time.

i started doing them again back in 2001 when i broke both legs and an ankle (another horse accident) i was bored out of my head sitting on the couch or in bed all day, theres only so much daytime television you can watch, and this was way way before i had a laptop and wireless so i could mess around online as well. in the past 2 years i got back into them in a big way as there are lots of times that i cant do much more than sit on the couch somedays.

I used to do models too. more of a ww2 airplane and tank guy though. I did like getting all the extra pieces from car and truck models though and putting together my own creation.
