Wall and pond are starting to look like they belong to each other, need another load of rocks to finish the long wall.

I tore out my waterfall from last year and am now making a burm up in behind so it can be higher and longer. Having the filter there will allow me to water the palm tree with it ;)

2 of us on it again tomorrow :)

Looks good! I was lucky, this house we bought 2 years ago already had a small pond by the front entry. It is very low maint and the frogs love it!
My lillies are going crazy this year, finally blooming.
Would get a photo but it's dark out now.

Good Luck.

I'm all for seeing others ponds here. Post away!

I can steal ideas just as good as anyone ;)  Put up your pond photos if you have one  :)

"Wannabridin" I researched your heat issues in Texas, my pond is wild hot in the summer as well. Mine is 4 ft at the deepest and having been in and out the past few days I can say its quite cool down at the bottom. A bit of tree shade and water lilies seem to do well enough.

This was just too cool not to link to  http://www.bestofremodeling.com/blog/odd/water-cooled-house

Again, I may have stated this before,  my bikes just don't need any fussing right now. Ride one of them every day!

My nephew made a filter from rolled up fiberglass air filter media and inserted it into 4" pvc pipe. He put thread adapters on the ends and hooked the hose to both ends, It works great, he is a plumber and uses old sump pumps to move the water, the switches usually go before the pump it's self so he ties  the switch lever up. He did learn to keep the pump raised off the bottom when the hose blew off and pumped all the water out of the pond.

Here's mine, it was here when I bought the house but had to repair the waterfall. Plus, lost many plants last winter due to multiple freezing nights, but it came back strong. Lillies need to be trimmed, may do it tomorrow, too F'ing hot out there now!

Here are a couple of pics of mine. The pond is inside a screened in enclosure so the night bugs in Fla. don't carry you away. The filter is in the room behind the waterfall and consists of a 40 watt UV light followed by three laundry tubs with brushes, mono-filament material, and bioballs. There are about 35 Koi in the pond.

The UV really helps to keep the algae out. With our heat, algae would take over the pond and the fish would be hidden.

Awesome pond!  Looks like you have some 10 year olds in there 8)
I like how you have some walk up access points and a bridge, very nice.

Waiting for some more rocks to finish ???

Thanks! Some of them are 18 years old. Yes, unfortunately what makes a pond look nice is/are heavy.  :o

Due to the fact that I still don't know how to post pictures :-[  go onto Google maps and search 22 sycamore cresent, wa3 6jr. Zoom right in and spin the camera round untill you find a small Japanese style garden. The pond only has gold fish in it and a million frogs. ;D

They don't line the road side pictures up very well D, notice the kink in the foot path edge and the sunburst gate. :(

Looks great!  a couple friends of mine have ponds around here, gotta keep 'em screened as we're only a couple miles from a large Blue Heron rookery.

We built a small pond in the backyard 4 years ago.  We stocked it with goldfish or feeder fish that we $0.69/.  I bought 6 and they seemed to like the pond better than the pet store!  Now winter comes and we are wondering what to do with the fish.  Some suggested trapping them and keeping them in a pail in the garage.  i couldn't catch them so I just left them there for the winter as I was going to Australia for a bike trip.  I thought that at $ 0.69/ i could just buy new ones in the spring.  The pond froze over to a depth of about 300mm.
The next spring, I was wandering around the yard and noticed that the ice was starting to melt around the perimeter and sure enough there were fish at the edge.  Fast forward 4 years and we now have about 35 fish and a frog or two and the odd snake comes by for a meal.
All in all its good entertainment.

I don't want it to go like a motorcycle, I want it to go like a rocket!

Thanks. I suppose I could have used a bigger pump, but it seems fine the way it is ;)
