500-4 6 speed Good/Bad news

flying a lot these days, hence scanning the airport magazine racks for reading material

in the last issue of "classic Racer" I found this ad

good - 500-4 6 speed clusters are available again

bad 1 -  if the 350K4 kit costs 1150 pounds, then this will be at least as much, i.e. - not for me

bad 2 - I remember that loordmoonpie said once they were terrible boxes. can anyone confirm?

There are a fair few being used in the CRMC machines raced in the UK. Were moonie's criticisms about the ratios or quality of product? Nova supply some of the UK and european superbike teams and seem to be regarded as top of the shop here. They refurbed my HRC 5 speed (two new cogs) and quality seemed fine but hasn't been tested on the track yet. You could try posting on the CRMC site, open to non-members http://www.crmc.co.uk/

TG - I found and interesting piece on bellmouth science but pdf is too big to upload to forum, I'll see if I can cut it down some how.

i'd love to read that. PM a moderator about uploading it? you might also convert it to a JPEG and post it as an image.

It was a quality issue the LMP had a problem with TG. He had to take the transmission to a 3rd party to sort it out

ive dealt with ian dyson at nova for many years [ rode a Spartan , tr 750 suzuki and a barton ] all had boxes made by ian  , although this was before he was at nova .  as rod said there are many people using them in the classic club, pretty much all the t20 suzukis and k4 hondas use them with no problems.

if it is a complete box and shafts the price will probably be nearer to the price of the 750 box at nearly £ 1400  not too bad really about a quarter of the price of a 250 aprilia box !
