clutch or lack thereof
« on: September 20, 2009, 10:31:35 AM »
Yesterday I thought I broke my clutch cable after I couldn't get it to engage. Drove it back home (trying hard to not stop) and took off the left cover and saw that the cable and lifter were fine. But I noticed the lifter rod which runs through the middle of the main shaft - I should mention this is a '72' 500 four - doesn't move or push at all. Is it possible that the clutch plate has unseated itself in the assembly? Or is there something else I should look for before I remove the clutch cover? Should I even expect any play when I push on the lifter rod? This is a new one on me.
thanks, Scott
