Topic: Moto-alternative to AAA?

I'm finally making on my promise to take a long, meandering road trip with no set route or destination (other than to make it back home, of course).  Question is, is there a legit alternative to AAA as far as roadside assistance?  Or more accurately, towing?  I'll be fully outfitted with a comprehensive toolkit to take care of 99% of problems that may come up, but on the off chance something really goes bad, anybody heard of AAA-type help for riders?  Just curious.

I looked into this and I believe that AAA has a motorhome/motorcycle policy.  If I remember right, it is coverage that you purchase on top of the regular auto policy.  Was kind of expensive, so i chose not to get it, although....if I was going cross country or something like you are, might be worth the cost.

I'm car free, so no existing coverage to piggyback on.  Motorcycle towing seems to be a specialty, not a common service.  Guess I'll have to doublecheck everything and make sure everything's tight and right. 

That, or some lucky SOHC4ers will get to know me whether they want to or not.

AMA (american motorcyclist Assoc) offers free roadside to members.

If you have Progressive insurance for your bike you probably have roadside assistance through them too. They automatically included it with my policy for an extra $10 a year. Never had to use it, but probably worth having.

With the AMA assistance, I believe, you either have to buy a three year membership or sign up for automatic annual renewals.
