No high beam indication
« on: May 31, 2006, 02:32:33 PM »
the blue light does not illluminate,

how is access to that lamp?

Also the button switch on the left handle (not the horn) does nothing; I assume that is the high beam flash button - does this have known issues?  Both beams are working fine.

The covers on the backs of the gauges are removable. There will be a rubber plug with 2 wires coming out of it directly behind the High Beam indicator. Pull the plug out to expose the bulb. The bulbs are still available from Honda dealers. (I bought ones with the same # at the auto parts store and the glass part of the bulb is too big to fit through the hole in the gauge. The dealer ones fit fine.)

There's a wire clip {#4} holding the light block {#3} in place.  You can pop the clip and pull the block out to make it a whole lot easier.  I figured this out only after I replaced mine.  Take the bulb to the store to match it, I did and found the right size - I had actually read about the glass being too big.  Then I changed all of the idiot lights out with LED's.

Crazy thing's fine now with no intervention from me.  Nice to know about the bulb though, thanks.
My guess is its the ghost of some former owner having fun with me.
Or Im going to have to to through all connections one by one and clean them up.

That's usually the case with these old machines... 8)
