Anybody have a CB650 petcock?
« on: September 21, 2009, 07:09:35 PM »
Mine leaks like a sieve now. A petcock from a 1982 cb650 nighthawk would be ideal, but I might be able to get by with another year. Let me know what you have.

I dont have one but ust a FYI.  A 81 should work but wont have the "bowl".  Anything older wont bolt to the tank.

Good to know. Thx. I never really understood the point of the "bowl".

I have three!  But they are all screwed up on some fashion.  Good luck on your search!
My Nighthawk is put together with wire and zip ties, burns oil, and handles like a pig.  I love it!

I have a couple old dirt bikes that have them and the screen is in the bowl.  Easier to clean than unbolting the whole thing with gas in the tank.   I might have a 81 minuse the screen laying around.  I'll add it to my list of things to look for this weekend.

Hmmm...I am pretty sure that 81 was the year for new CV carbs and in all lot's of changes for the sohc 4 650. In the Clymer it has slightly different procedures for "models after 1981" very frequently.

Anybody know for sure?

How strong of a "should" is that?

As in Ive never done it but from what I gather from what I've seen it "SHOULD".  81/82 both had CV's but why they changed the bowl.  WTFK's

Word. Looking on ebay I found a petcock from an 82 cb750K...Looks IDENTICAL to mine and even has that special bowl. Both are the same exact price OEM, but different Honda part numbers. I think I am going to pull the trigger on this one. $28...but guess how much Honda wants for an OEM one? a hundred and #$%*ing twenty six dollars.  :'( :'( :'(

OK, OK, I can't really afford the $28 + heartache if this thing doesn't fit. So...anyone running a 750 petcock on a 650 from the same year or vice-versa? Size, thread pitch should be the same right?
