Remember Iron Butterfly, Here's One Of Brenda's Favorite Songs!
« on: September 22, 2009, 08:50:14 PM »

Besides Connie Francis (whose songs, Brenda memorized and could sing with ease), Herman's Hermits, Three Dog Night And Elvis, she really liked this song (there were some others, but these stood out, as far as she was concerned. ;)

Now, I have to say that when I met Brenda, I hadn't heard much of the songs that Three Dog Night had done by then and MY group of that time, was Jim Morrison and the Doors. Remember the long version of Light My Fire?

Now, while Connie Francis was one of Brenda's favorites AND I enjoyed her as well, Jimmy Rodgers song, Kisses Sweeter Than Wine, says alot about how I felt about Brenda, except we only had Karla and stopped there, as far as children go, but our Love just went on and on. Listen to this song.

i can still remember, as a young gent in my late teens and into my 20's, my experiments with psychedelics, listening to this song Bill. i love it just as much sober, as i did when having extraterrestrial experiences  :D

Man, these old songs are hitting home and making me remember the old times back them AND they just fit right in with my feelings that I found, when I Found Brenda! I went through junior high, high school, then 4 years in the Air Force, meeting this girl, then that girl and never really realizing True Love (even though I thought I did) And Then I Met Brenda! When I met Brenda the first time (and was stupid enough not to get her name and all), I KNEW I HAD TO SEARCH UNTIL I FOUND HER AGAIN BECAUSE I KNEW, IN MY HEART, THAT SHE WAS THE  ONE FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (now if I just had a big heart to put right here). That's why I was so DEVASTATED WHEN SHE PASSED AWAY, because she filled such a large part of my life, that a BIG chunk was taken out of me, with her being gone.

I used to listen to In-a-Gada-Da-Vida on repeat in my room when I was working on old stereos; I had it on vinyl. Same with Three Dog Night and Chicago.

           8)  Brenda had a copy of it herself, but it got "slightly" warped years ago. But it would still play pretty well AND there is NO WAY that she'd get rid if it! :D So, it's still here, somewhere. ;) Good to know that there is another one out there too! 8)

Hey Jeff, ya kinda went past my period, which runs pretty solid, up until around the mid 60's then narrows some and goes i nto the 70's a bit, from there, it's kinda "Hit and Miss". ;D Like, I've never even heard of those groups or that song. Sorry, guess I should have specified, so you all would know and not have to try to read my mind. :D  That brings up a saying that Brenda used somewhat, "Minds I can read, it's BLANKS that I have trouble with." :D (Let me be QUICK to say that I posted that, making NO reference to ANYONE on this forum, or any other. Just wanted to make that clear! :)

(Some say the words really are "In the garden of Eden".)
I saw an interview with Doug Ingle the lead singer. It was in the Garden of Eden. He was so wasted it came out sounding like In a Gadda Da Vida. the porducer went with that since it sounded exotic.

I met Connie Francis thru a Gay Guy I worked with who was a personal frined of hers. She wanted me do do some photos of her, which never happened.
Years before she was a victim of a brutal beating and rape in a Hotel after a concert. The Cops caught the guy who was a serial Rapist. Her Husband of the time was a Mob connected or in the Mob.
As fate would have it, shortly thereafter, the fellow was himself the victim of a brutal assault and died. Funny about how Karma works.

She cancelled the shoot, her mental state was always very fragile after that incident, and she lived as a recluse.

Not surprised about the name of that song. As we know, there was a lot of drug use back in that period. :-\

Too bad you didn't get to do those photos of Connie Francis, that would have been cool. We had heard about the beating and rape, sure messed her up and that is really too bad. It was pretty upsetting for Brenda (& me as well), she idolized Connie Francis and REALLY felt BAD for her having to go through that! Shame she got into a situation with a man like that for a husband! Yeah, FUNNY how Karma works! ;)

My first car had an 8 track in it.  the only 8 track my folks had that was worth a damn was Iron Butterfly.  I drove around playing Inna godda davida all day.  The whole rest of the tape sucked.  But i love that song.

That's something I didn't like about SOME tapes AND albums. Like right off, I can think of a cassete tape I have of a group that I really like (and always have), the Ventures. AND the only piece (not really songs) that is worth listening to, is "Pipeline"! It doesn't even have Apache or Walk Don't Run! It COULD have had "Wipeout", but I didn't really like their version anyway (The Safari's version is much better). I've seen (and have )some with a group' (or a single artist's) "Greatest Hits, that came out with a fair group of songs on them.  ;)

It COULD have had "Wipeout", but I didn't really like their version anyway (The Safari's version is much better). I've seen (and have )some with a group' (or a single artist's) "Greatest Hits, that came out with a fair group of songs on them.  ;)

BTW, my 1956' Plymouth was lucky it had a radio, and an AM radio at that! :D Now, I DID put in one of those "new fangled" Motorola Vibrasonic Reverberaetors in there, with a REAR SPEAKER!  :o ;D ;) By the time I got that car, it was 1966!
