Adam, we had the same problem with our logging equipment way up in the National forest.
Not tree huggers mind you just country hoodlums or drunk university students out in the woods
seeing what they could tear up.
I set out in the woods, behind the landowners cabin one night trying to catch them and let
me tell you, surveillance is not fun. Boring is the word.

So here is my suggestion, get a ir wildlife camera, motion sensitive verity. If there is a bush
near your bike it would be an easy deal to hide. Set it up for a while and if your unlucky with
these hoodlums again at least you'll get them on film. Case solved. Of course your doing the
police work for the police. I do know that in the county my incident occurred in the police
did have cameras they could set on sites to catch such bums. Ask your campus security about that.
To be sure they have a portable camera. Good luck.

I really dont think so... There is not a single scratch, dent, etc on the left side.  The amount of effort required to tip the bike up I would think would leave some sort of trace? I will have to wait until tomorrow to file a report as the officer that I talked to went off duty shortly after I contacted him.
It wouldn't take much effort for a car's bumper to hit the unprotected rear tire and knock it over without leaving a mark.  Check the left side of the rear tire for marks and scuffs...maybe paint transfer.
-EDIT-
I made the above post before reading through to the point where it haappened the second time.  I'm probably more pissed than you for this kind of crap!  I like the suggestion about the hidden motion sensitive camera, and maybe you should look into one if you can afford it.
Evidence in court is always much better than trying to defend yourself in a battery case, so behave yourself no matter how tempting it may be to pound the living daylights out of some low life $41t head.

This really sucks. As satisfying as it would feel at the moment to beat the living sh!t out of the person who did this (and if I was on the jury I'd vote in your favor ;) ) I have to agree with the level headed people and say, fix it up and move on. Be aware and do what you can to prevent it from happening again.

Good luck!

The sad part is being level headed means that jackass will get away with it.  IF you catch him/her on video it MAY be helpful for police to catch him/her.  The problem is punks think they can get away with anything... a lot of times they seem to be correct.  Fear is a good prevention tool.

I would rip this persons arm off and beat them into a coma with their own arm.

Mlinder you are far too kind, my blood boiled when i saw that, i would also rip of their heads and #$%* down there throats.....GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Sorry for that but  ???
I would  take that seat to the cops and get them to take a print off it so that if they have a suspect it can be easily matched. This sort of senseless vandalism drives me to distraction, i REALLY hope you find this vermin and dispose of it appropriately....

I don't know if anybody said this already, but I would get the real police involved, not just the campus rent-a-cops.  I know they prolly won't care either, cops suck (generally).

Also, AAA has coverage called "Plus Rv".  It's more expensive, but it covers motorcycles.

Yeah, sure.  Just ask the Hatfields and McCoys. (or what is left of them.)
What do you think happens when one's opponent also believes pain is an effective training tool?

There was vandalism in my local news yesterday.  Someone(s) painted a garage (with spray paint I assume, and maybe it was a house and not a garage... can't remember exactly), they torched a car - literally set it ablaze, a total ruin,
and (this is the really sick part), they beat a dog to death with a club.

I'm telling you, why people do this stuff is beyond me.  But there are people like this all over it seems.

Anyway, I'm glad you're still riding it to school.  Reminds me of the movie Good Will Hunting, when Will told Robin William's character why he chose the wrench over the stick and the belt.

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of reply... We had our review today which means I get to sleep again! YAY!  I'm runnin on like 4 hours over the last 48 or so right now.  But I have a test tomorrow, so I have to get some studying in tonight yet before I can pass out.

Anyhow.  That warning sticker is pretty BA.  Can you buy them anywhere or is it a custom made deal?  Solchiro, thats pretty awful, especially about the dog, seriously what is wrong with some people.... So far I haven't had any more incidents with the bike.  So I'm hoping for it just being some kind of isolated incident.  Still can't believe someone would do that... but I hope it never happens again! I will forever be more nervous parking it out there though...

Also thanks for the tip on the RV plus, I just go through my parents, but maybe I'll bring it up to them and see if they think its worth adding.  I know I have used regular AAA several times... keys locked in cars, every time.

Hoping to get some bike time in tomorrow before my life gets super busy again.

Got a link to how made the seat pictures?

The problem in dealing with crazy people is, you don't know how far they'll go when they go off.  A conversation can easily be interpreted as a confrontation and most sane people aren't willing to recognize that until it's too late.
Trust me.  Just chew and swallow.  Tomorrow is another day.

I agree here.  The baseball bat ideas are all great, but really, if this guy is pissed off or jacked up on something, or really just that much of a jerk, there's no telling what he'll do.  If he has to go around wrecking other people's stuff to affirm his masculinity and self-confidence then he will likely be the same kind of guy who feels 'threatened' by you and needs to pulp you just to 'prove' he's the bigger, badder man.

I'm just surprised there weren't more witnesses.  If they weren't so expensive, I'd recommend the Xena disc lock.  Move the bike at all and it screams bloody murder at 110 decibels.  We got one for MickeyX's Sportster when the knotheaded jerk who regularly parked next to the motorcycle parking picked up her locked bike (presumably with help) and stuck it in the walkway of a building. :o

The problem with Xena locks is that they can be overly sensitive sometimes, too, and go off just sitting there. :(

Although I do know a few of them that also ride Vintage Jap bikes but certainly not when patched.
