I dont want to!
« on: September 23, 2009, 06:57:06 am »
my bike...... is for sale.
I have almost talked myself out of it already.  I just really need some cash.

I thought I would post one last photo of the bike, I havent been around the forums much because I spent two months in Colorado without a computer... and without my bike.

Talk me outta it guys!

Has learned so far that..."complete" gaskets are never complete no matter where you get them, VHT Silver Case Paint is just as durable as painting your motor with chalk and cheap tire irons used with rim protectors are useless on 30 year old tires.

Sell your Lakai's (shoes), not the bike.

Sell something, just not the bike.

You need to go for a nice long ride and talk it over with your bike, then decide.
I'm sure you'll make the right choice.

Any place in your area doing plasma? Most will usually pay you for it. Around here, a person can get 60-70 clams for 2 donations which take about 1.5 hours each.

I love this bike so much.... but its not just that I need money, I'm also moving to mexico.
I wonder what kind of restrictions they have on bringing bikes or cars in.

Oh and its up for $950 right now.

Gosh...  I know I'll regret it.

I doubt it's too difficult.  Lots of people in Mexico come across the border to buy cheap cars and trucks to take back with them.

Serious? Go get a part time weekend job at lowes or home depot for a month and you will have made that. #$%* post your mad masonry skills on craigslist (IE: will build front walk way, etc etc). If its about money your bike is probably one of the last things you own that is worth it to sell.

I dont think I understand your thought process... The only reason I can fathom you would sell your bike because of a move to mexico is so you could boxes of ketchup to take with. Mexico has horrible ketchup.. that their would prevent me from moving.

This is true. I've seen convoys of Mexicans driving mini vans in various conditions down the interstate lol

So what's your plan, man, or do you have one?  Been doing itinerant masonry work-- going snowboarding-- moving to Mexico-- sell the bike-- don't sell the bike. Seems like you need to establish some priorities. Why you going to Mexico? College? A job? Learn Spanish? Mine gold?

It appears you are begging us to talk you out of it-- and you know we would try. So I don't think you really want to sell it. What's $900? That's a few weeks work at most. Forget the snowboard trip-- that's $400 my guess.

Like the Spoonful aksed . . .  Did you ever have to make your mind? Well, yes.

Guess I'm showing my age, sorry.

Don't do it, you'll regret it in less than a month. Oh and you will also be looking for another one with in 3months. Ask anyone on here, once motorcycles get in your blood their is no cure. Its whole heartly up to you to sell or not, but if the only reason your selling it is because your moving or heaven forbid a damb snow boarding trip. I have to agree  with the others get your priorities straight

Before this last string, I had a 27 year gap where I didn't have a bike. Lost my endorsment. Had to take the stupid test again. Marriage and kids do that. Priorities. Now, old age forced me to try to get some of that back. Do what you feel you must do. You can always pick up a bike. Maybe a better one.

So I took it for a ride yesterday with intentions of getting some video to post for people interested in buying... that didn't happen, just ended up riding the bike around for about 45 minuets.

Haha popwood, yes I am going to Mexico to mine gold. No the plan is to graduate early, I've got good enough grades to do that haha. Take a bartending class out there and learn more Spanish.

Jobs... are very hard to come by around here right now. I live in a town of 4,000 and right now farmers aren't looking for anyone. Stone masonry is a booming business in Colorado however, No one in viroqua let alone Vernon county has the money for masonry work. Vernon county is the 2nd poorest county in Wisconsin.

I'll try posting my mad masonry skills on craigslist and see if I get any bites, tried it once around here and got nothing but its worth a try.

All my friends can't believe the bike is up for sale either, after I put so much time into it.
If I get a part time job, or find a new way to get some money, the bike will no longer be for sale is what I have decided.
The problem is now is the time to sell, I wish I could wait another month or two to sell when I really need the money but people around here either dont buy bikes in the winter or will only buy them for a ridiculously low price.

Let me give a story about a guy... me!

Chris, a thoroughly studied metalsmith and art foundry worker (with a plethora of other skills) has got a 1976 cb750k.  All during his undergraduate career he was so busy and committed to his studies and art pursuits, that the bike sat quite a bit during the time it was in his possession.  It sat under his awning while he galavanted in England (twice) pouring cast iron for months on end, it waited while he drove cross country numerous times to study and teach at various art establishments, it cried when money needed to buy parts when towards 6 packs and pizza instead.  It waited.  It could have easily been sold to help pay off the thousands of dollars of student loans he still owes, or to help pay for a DUI he foolishly got himself into, or to pay rent for a warehouse space so he could have an easier time making his work, but alas, he held on to it.  It's sitting on a stand in my folks garage now, waiting for Hondamans ignition to come in and getting ready for some rewiring.  It's actually in the way.  But it's still there.

Dude, check your PM.  Sending you my address and phone number.  Come down to sun prairie sometime we'll get a bite, have a beer/coffee, stare at eachothers rides (ahem, project ride in my case :D ) and you'll rethink this... seriously.

-Chris
I need help moving my project bike from Wisconsin to Seattle, WA.  Willing to pay well.  Contact if interested.
