Wounded Heroes
« on: September 23, 2009, 02:27:05 PM »
Sorry for the sad subject, but just watching some real heroes on TV, and Jesus Christ, they are such heroes, it's unbelievable :)

Both injured British soldiers in Afghan, one a triple amputee and one a blind double amputee.

They are facing such a different life from their injuries that it doesn't bare thinking about.

I have just had a shoulder op, and had the end of my shoulder removed, and other bones shaved, and thought i was in some pain to do press ups etc,(reqd as i am still serving) but now i feel such a fanny after watching these guys.

They have inspired me to sort my #$%* out and try and raise some Help For Heroes cash for them, with something extreme??? Any Ideas guys????? I have done several races inc Marathon Des Sables, Yukon Arctic Ultra and the Iditasport. Does anyone have any idea what i'm talking about???

If you ever get a chance to watch, the programme is called "Wounded"

Kindest Regards

SF

Living next to Ft. Campbell (home of the 101st Airborne) really makes the situation hit home.

Working at the UPS Store I run into a few soldiers a week who have prosthetic limbs or are missing body parts (fingers, hands, feet, etc.)

The fact that these guys came home and now have to move on with their lives with a life-changing disability...  I mean, PTSD is one thing, losing an arm is something else entirely.  It makes you think about the impact the war(s) have had on the soldiers actually fighting them.
