1971 CB500/four with 23000 miles. one of the previous owner's had driven the bike around for most of it's life on 3 cylinders. The imbalance of that, coupled with the imbalance of everything else that goes along with someone of this mindset...

very nice pictures and very nice information, indeed. Good to know about a 500. I know the 550 was modified to correct some of these problems, but that's not very many miles to have chain sawing through the oil gallery. Of course, 3 cylinders is not enough cylinders.

Then I guess the total mileage should account for just 75% of the reading.... :-)


How could anybody run a bike on three cylinders and not noticing it?
