More money than sense - or a bargain?
« on: December 10, 2005, 03:50:18 AM »
I've just done my usual stumble through Ebay(UK) on the lookout for bits and pieces for my '75 CB400F and saw the following:
an NOS CB400F fuel tank in Candy Apple Red - one small (how small It didn't say) mark at the base of the tank.  The whole thing still in it's original wrapping and box - with Filler cap but no petcock.

Latest bid (auction closes in around 9 hours' time) is UK£200 (US$351).

Is this a going rate, or do the bidders (there are currently 23 of them) have more money than marbles?

I forget what the eBay cb750 K0 NOS sets went for (tank, sidecases, fork ears, headlight bucket, air cleaner housing) but it was about the GNP of several third world nations. And a NOS Candy Gold K2 tank went for $880 about 7 months ago.

Terry,
The fuel tap is 50 quid, so god knows what a tank would go for, if you could get one. The fuel tank cap alone is 19 quid.
Good luck.
Jim.

The tank went tonight for a hair over UK£206 - a NOS Camshaft went for UK£50 - there's also a NOS seat about to go - priced at UK£120.

Terry,
Are 400 bits generally more expensive than 750 bits? Are there less 400s around?
Jim.
