clutch lifter rod & bearings
« on: September 24, 2009, 12:10:46 PM »
the clutch lift rod is in two pieces on my 1971 cb500/four. when looked at the parts list it's shown as 22850-292-020 having been superseded by 22850-323-000? when reviewing some of the posts about the lifter rod it states it is a one piece unit. this one seems to have been machined in two sections for there is a machined mating surface between the two. So could this be an earlier version. the other question, are there two ball bearings? for when taken apart found one in the clutch adjuster area and one living in the area where the rod moves through the motor just in front of the clutch basket on the other side. The clutch worked fine lest for the short rides when trying the bike for the first time before pulling the motor due to a loose primary chain and am at the stage of placing the engine covers back on...
thanks keith

They were always one piece and only one ball bearing in the adjuster mechanism
