Single throttle vs. double throttle cable?
« on: September 19, 2009, 06:18:29 pm »
I was looking for new throttle and throttle grips on ebay. I noticed that all of the new ones are for throttles with one cable. Do they make custom throttles for dual cables like on my cb550? I am looking to ditch the starter all together and wanted to eliminate that bulky thing on the handlebars.

If you use only one do you just have to manually roll the throttle back instead of it springing back on its own?

you just use the pull cable. spring on the carbs return it. The only thing the return cable does is allow you to actualy pull the carbs back to closed position.

I personally regard the two cable setup as very useful.  should your carbs become stuck for whatever weird reason, lik say your cable binds somewhere not allowing the throttle to close, your hand will pull them closed manually.    although on the CB carbs, it seems that return spring is ABSURDLY strong for carburetor purposes.
These bikes dont die, they hibernate until the right person wakes them up again.
