Hey you did alright getting to where you did with that crippled CX, I just been Googleing your path simply cos I had no idea where Littlerock/Arkansas/Indio/Glendale or even Los Angeles was in relation to teh U.S..
You ain't that far from your destination are you.
OK anyone got a ute or trailer who wants to spend a beautiful Saturday helping out a fellow SOHC4 member? :)

Got a ride, left the bike at the hotel. Any good bike salvage yards in or around LA?

I'm not sure of any yards open on Sunday in the LA area however if you can get to Victorville or the Palmdale areas you might find some. The only yard I know of in Orange County (Parts Unlimited in Stanton) is closed on Sunday.

What parts are you looking for?

Have you narrowed it down to coils and CDI unit or is this a best guess Boxnife?

That has to be it. There is no real test that can be done without some extinct honda dealer equipment on the CDI, other than a voltage test on the LT coil wires, which it marginally failed on one side. I can't say what is wrong with the bike at this point, but I can say it isn't fuel/carb related, nor is it stator/pulser related. That leaves coils and CDI, so we'll just do both.

Still hunting for salvage yards, appreciate all the help so far. Sorry for the short responses, I've been doing this from an iphone.

Glad to be of some assistance. I would try R.M. Motorcycles in El Monte first.

If I had a truck or a car that could tow a trailer I would have come out to get you.

If you need any tools or what ever, PM me. I live near the junction of the 91 and 55 freeways.

Check carefully for a wire going to any of the ignition system components that has worn through and may be grounding to the frame or other components.  I was standed 700 miles from home in '07 due to one of the wires going to my coil on the 750.  Once I found the wire and taped it up, I was back on the road.  No more problems for the rest of the trip.

Worth a shot... :-\

I highly recommend Johnson and Wood in North Hollywood. They are open 7 days a week!! They deal mostly in used motorcycle parts. Tell them your story, they'll be very helpful!
