Can you index/rotate the speedo drive on a CB400/4?
« on: October 07, 2009, 05:43:38 PM »
Hi all,

The speedo drive on the front wheel of my CB400/4 has a horizontal cable end, directed towards the rear of the bike.

Is it possible to rotate the speedo drive by 90 degrees so that it is vertical?  This would allow me to run the cable up the fork leg and not have it dangling next to the wheel.

On most CBs (all afaik) you can do this by loosening the fork clamps at the front axle.  This will allow the axle to rotate taking the speedo drive with it.

Remember to account for several inches of suspension movement when planning your new cable routing.

Yeah, it'll work. Do you have a line on a shorter cable? I've wanted to do this too but I wasn't sure what to do about the cable.
