CB350f MATCHING VIN #'s ?
« on: September 29, 2009, 01:41:12 PM »
Hi everyone,
I am new to this formun so please excuse me if this is a
"rookie" question. My son and I are starting the rebuild of a 73 CB350f
and we are curious to know if the VIN# on the frame is
supposed to match the VIN# on the motor (in order to determine
if it is the original motor)?
My frame VIN# is: CB350F-1032402 and the engine # is: CB350F-1032452.
Anyone know?
Thanks
Dave

Nope, they're not supposed to match.  Look on the main website in the 350 model guide to check the engine number range for your year model if you want to make sure it's from the same year as the frame.

Make sure to post some before pics.

You'll both love the 350. Great project bike.

Here are some before pics but it is stripped down to
the bare frame now. Getting ready to send the
frame and other parts to the powder coater.
Have the motor stripped down too but having
a difficult time splitting the case, so if anyone has
any recommendations...feel free  ;D

I'm stuck...don't want to beat on the case too much to get it to open.
Have all the case bolts out, but I'm not sure if the clutch needs to
be removed before splitting the case?
It looks like the case is sealed together with some kind of glue or gasket sealer?
Also, my pistons are shot and the camshaft appears to be somewhat worn...any
ideas on where to get OEM parts or aftermarket (preferably on the U.S.)?
thanks
