'83 CB650sc w/no spark now....
« on: September 29, 2009, 06:30:52 PM »
So while I was waiting for my jets to come in I decided to clean up the electrical connections. The jets came in today and no I have no spark... I had spark before I fiddled with it. I'm wondering if I didn't inadvertently cross up the connections to the coil, I thought the ground was on the bottom on both sides...

What would be the end result if I did cross wire the coil? I couldn't find any blown fuses, and didn't hear any pop... what else could it be? I checked all the other connections and they seem solid. All plug wires are connected, and the one test plug is grounded...

Killswitch?.........Battery?...........Electrical flow to/from the coils?
Have you got a multi-meter?

The bike runs just only on cylinders 1&2 (pipes hot to the touch the others only warm), new battery, flipped the coils yesterday morning so they are running opposite now...and still only 1&2 (coils are 1&3, 2&4 (modded to run 2&4, 1&3 to test them)). Need to get a multimeter tomorrow. Any specific brand to get?

Hmmm!. Given my understanding of what you're describing, both coils seem to be functioning.
Is it possible that you separated or loosened the lead/plug cap connection on any of the ignition leads? The only thing that seems common is the placement of the #3 and #4 leads (assumimg you've left them in their original position).......if so,  you could swap or substitute them to see if the condition changes.......... :)

Might be mute as its a 550 but a 83 should be a dual cam and they might have changed the igy around.  I wonder how much would be the same.
