When you remove the rear brake hub, hopefully you see only two brake dust holes inside.  The second set of holes wasn't added until later in the K0 run, maybe as late as K1's IIRC.  If you can find a complete K0 rear wheel, I say go with it.

You're ahead of the game with that nice double cut front fender, correct 17-hole seat pan, all body parts like the fork ears and air box ;)

Did I miss if it's a wrinkle tank?

The rear rim from the 69 is on the dragbike. Aw jeez. It still has a two hole hub as does the 16"er.

Yes it's really wrinkly. It's so nice after all the parts chasing with the 70  to have the majority of it there.
Thanks for the info on the hubs. I always wondered what holes? The rim is nasty, I thought it was aluminum at first.
The owner of the 69 had his work done at the shop of the drag bike owner. He put on a 16" rim there. The shop owner could have kept just the DID rim or kept the assembled unit and used a different hub on the hog rim.  Nobody knew these things might be collectable back then.
I know a guy that took two truckloads of stock exhaust to the scrapyard in the 70's.

When put dual exhaust on a 750 back in "the day" the stock pipes usually went in the trash.  Who'd a thunkit?

The drag bike had the original rim and hub from the sandcast bike. I wasn't going to buy it until I noticed the rim. I counted on them doing it the easy way on the rim swap. Now the 69 has her original back wheel and hub.
And the PO's stepson wants me to restore the drag bike and sell it back to the family. It's going to have a pretty hog rim on it.

just read through the entire thread, great stuff here.  I'll be following for sure.

I may have over looked if mentioned, but what rims are on the 70, I like the look.

They are Lester mags. One of the first mag wheels for a bike.

They're both two hole hubs, the one on the 69 has the clover pattern cush drive rubbers.  The one on the drag bike looks normal.

Like this. So my theory on the rim swap was incorrect the proper hub is on the hog rim and the hub on the DID rim (DRAG BIKE) is also two hole but has the later rubbers.

True. And so could I. The hub on the hog rim has had an easier life but they are both nice.
I went to our nearby small bike shop with a buddy and came home with a nice 19" DID chrome rim. it is nicely rounded on the bead area.  He had laced up wheels for his harley hummer project and dropped them off for trueing and tire mounting. I picked up a wheel out of the truck and spokes went everywhere. They were loose and the nipples vibrated off. We found them all.

So, the Hog rim is lookin good on the drag bike and the 69 has an 18" wheel again. I did a lot of carb cleaning, they are a mess but getting better.  I swapped the plastic short chain guard to the 69 and put the chrome one on the 70. Handlebars, grips and an assortment of carb parts are on the way. I put a clutch lever on the drag bike too. I guess I've got a 3 way going here.

There are just 2 K0's, the 72 drag bike happened to have the rear wheel off the 69 and accidently had a K0 hub too. At least one has to go. My plan is to sell the drag bike back to the PO's stepson. That leaves three. The value of the 69 may tempt me to turn that into shop equipment for the race shop. We're getting a price together on an Alky funny car repair now. I enjoy building things more than maintaining them.

I'm officially one of those guys with bikes lined up in a row. I never dreamed I'd own a 70 much less a real 69. I really didn't think I'd land this dragbike. Then before I even had it home, have a customer that says they want me to restore it and sell it to them.  I just need to ride it. Once.

I spent the day cleaning carbs. My brother's K2 won't run so we pulled the rack off his bike, decided to swap to another set so we ended up working on both of them. And in the meantime on another bench I worked on the 69's carbs. We have another set of 4 cable carbs but these are nicer on the outside. And original. The dragbike's carbs are gnarly too. I'll be good at it by the time I'm done.

That's a fact Bill. I'd love to make an angry pass on the track but aluminum rods scare me, not knowing how old/new they are.  A set sold at the auction for $40. Could have been new or used,  I didn't see it or I would have bought them.

My 70 has to go in the race car trailer to storage so I swapped out the parts that want to be on the 69. I dropped a battery in the 69 and nothing. The original looking fuse was blown so I swapped it and everything on the bike works even the horn. The left rear turn signal bulb has loose glass so it might have shorted..

I was lucky before last week, then my luck increased dramaticly. I never expected to own a sandcast let alone a nice one. The dragbike is a stripped down heap but the engine is awesome.
I parked our race car mid season. My daughter drives and her bluegrass band scheduled a lot of gigs. That freed up some time and $$. The downside is I owe our savings for the last two bikes. something will eventually have to be sold.
