Well at least he's consistent Don? I had my 350F tank painted by a local panel shop in '96, it took them 3 goes before they got it right, and I don't think they ever did another bike tank after mine. They brought it to me (at the gas station where I worked part time) with runs, the first time, then they dropped it and folded one corner in. The last time it looked great and was well worth the money, but it was lucky that I had a spare tank so I could ride it while I was waiting.

There was a clown in the US selling CB750 "Paint sets" and the guy who imported a one owner (but rusty) K1 had me install the "tins" as part of the bike's preparation to go back on the road. I gave the thing a service, installed a Dyna 2000 ignition, cleaned and rebuilt the carbs and it went like a new bike, maybe the best I'd seen of an old bike brought back from sitting so long. Last thing I did was install the new "tins", and didn't start it until he came to collect it. There must have been good fuel in the float bowls because it started and ran like a champ, and he was happy. We loaded it on the trailer and off he went.

A few days later he rang me to say it was running like #$%*. I told him to drop a float bowl to make sure there was no crap that had transferred from the recently repainted tank, and yep, the carbs were full of blasting grit. He kept asking me to fix it, but I told him how to do it himself, he was a cheap-arse and would have expected me to do it for cheap, if not for free. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I bought a gl1000 tank from guy that said he was a helicopter flight instructor. It was a lovely no rust tank. Outside. The interior looked like it had contained a swamp. The facebook buy/sell page kicked my posts out and me off for posting about it. A few days of acid and a coating of Northern blue sealer it has worked for a couple years. To be honest I'm afraid to look in it but the Genuine Honda fuel filter still looks clear, at least not red.

I posted elsewhere it (Green bike) ended up with 110 mains, 40 pilots and needles in the top slot. The air fuel meter got a lot happier, lots of green and a tiny bit of yellow. No red anywhere. numbers going through the gears from  12.8 to 15-1.

I'm taking the 3 colors of K0 to my annual car cruise, I'm going to attempt 2 in the dragster trailer (in town trip) and ride one. I'll need to move the car over to one side.
Update, two are in the trailer, the rack for the back bike has to come out before the car can though. I rode the sandcast a bit, it's awesome, the gold bike is running like crap though. 4 hot pipes but something's amiss. I need to do a few tests and repeat 3K mile tuneup.

Nice pic! When I needed rear pegs for my KO a few years ago, I sent a note to JTMarks. He sent me an NOS Honda set, including the through bolt, lock washers and nuts! Going to miss that guy!

Me too on JT. I'm hoping a family member had been working with him to carry on. For us and for them.
Terry, I have a front wheel rack inside,  I whipped up another one and screwed it to the floor joists, I got the dragster, two 750's and the golf cart in it. I rode one to the event, my Son in Law drove the trailer home and I rode the sandcast.
I never had this many Honda fans stop to talk. I neglected my car show crew a bit.

Don..... does your Sandcast have the original horn? Curious if it’s any different than the later K0’s? If I just flip the tab (screwed to the horn), does a RHS horn become a LHS horn? Thanks, John D.

Mine's 5511, it has the late horn. I've wondered the same thing.

Pretty sure I have my original. The cover chrome is pitted, but it’s all there. I’ll post a photo soon.

Don..... checked my s/c horn today (see pics). Easy enough to flip the mounting tab over on a new one, BUT the wire then pokes out the wrong way. A new horn would have the wires sticking out the outside of the horn..... the original has them tucked in under the headstock. Mmmmmm??

A silly Q?, but what horns were gray plastic with a regular cover and a silver wire cover?

Don..... that’s the original horn from #1250.  It’s really not grey, the phone takes weird photos under fluorescent lights. It will be black when clean. Th wire cover is grey.

I had a gray/silver one that I always thought could be early 750 but it appears to be cl450. That said,  we know if Honda only had access to gray ones and needed to build a bike it would have went on. I've been telling the facebook cb750 experts there are exceptions.

I looked more closely at the wires and cover today. What you see in my poor photo is the light green wire, looking gray. The wire cover is faded, but definitely black.

How’s it like the Avgas Don? My K0 with super high comp pistons loves 98 Ron fuel (and hates 91) so if I could get my hands on some Avgas I’d give it a crack? ;D

I just got a gallon or less in it to top off the tank. My main reason for trying it is it doesn't spoil like pump gas. My buddy that works there said he  has started 20 year sleeper airplanes and they fire right up.
The best starting and smoothest running cb750 I ever bought came from an airport. The manager kept it in his hanger, it never left the airport so got few miles, and fed it airplane gas. Also a friend that has Indian motorcycles from the 40's also mixes airplane gas with no alcohol pump gas 50/50 He rides his less then I ride mine and never has to clean a carb.
I just drained a mix of old pump and race gas out of my 40 chevy, there's 10 gallons to dispose of somehow. I can't even blend it and burn it because it has leaded race gas in the mix.

I got the old girl up to 90 with the 4-4 pipes and fuel mix around 15/85 or so, it's been 105mph with a Hooker 4-2 exhaust setup before I realized it had stabil in the fuel, it didn't turn them blue.
I think it wants a carb balance but above idle it's awesome.

I also gave the K0 836 a taste, it got closer to a 50/50 mix. It already had 91 octane no alky in it. I'll ride it as soon as weather allows, rain tomorrow. It's cammed and ported, I may get one last shot for the year to get it on the drag strip this weekend.

I recently visited my local Honda “power products” dealer and noted they are selling Honda Fuel in orange and blue, 4 litre containers. Two stroke pre mix, and 4 stroke. It costs a bit less than the stuff my STHIL chainsaw guy is selling (a tall boy beer can of their fuel is Cdn$19.99!). I’m going to get a jug of the 4-stroke stuff. Thinking I might load my remote fuel tank run all the bikes on this stuff, before winter storage? In theory, they should all just fire right up in the Spring?????

Good idea, I've been using canned fuel in my Poulan chainsaw and it runs better every time I use it. I also began using seafoam and no alky gas in my push mower and it's the same, the more I use it the better it runs.
My Yamahopper pit bike appears to need a carb rebuild though. I still use the oil injector, I sucked it out with a turkey baster and replaced with Amzoil synthetic 2 stroke oil and add a dab to the gas. I added a bit of AV gas to it too and rode the stink out of it to get some in the carb before storage. It's smoking a bit more than usual lol.
