I rode it to the first body shop today to discuss the paint. We agreed to paint the rest of a set and put all the freshly painted parts on the hot rod bike. Then I can keep the sandcast all original while I work on matching the fade.

We've been busy with the race car but it's running well and all caught up.
I pulled the float bowls off 5511 and checked them for dirt. Everything looks good, I changed the fork oil and rode around town. Went by the late PO's house, his family isn't out much no one home. I promised I'd show them the bike running.

The front brake has a hard lever but not much friction. The rear squeals a little too. I guess a few parts could be changed for safety reasons. It's got 60 fresh miles on it now. 8860 total. I think I'll change the oil like you would on a new engine.
No progress on the paint match, maybe this fall or winter when the race car lets up on my wallet a little.

I rode about 80 miles today, stopped by my favorite bike shop for a chain, and showed the guy that assembled it new. Went to a  trailer supply for a couple pocket size parts and visited a couple friends. It runs like a top and sounds awesome with the hooker 4-2. I can't wait for a stock 4-4 exhaust. The decision to go to the trailer store was a good one, I arrived on the scene of a semi truck/van crash that I would have been close to if I hadn't stopped.

I took the wife for a ride, she prefers the 76F seat, but likes the engine sound of the sandcast. I really need to swap on the new chain before something bad happens, the old one looks good, but who knows how old it is.

We rode it to a car show. I found a guy that remembers the owners son riding it to high school, he can't believe I own it. At some point the guys Dad passed away and the mom sent/sold it to the shop where it was always serviced and it stayed there until I got it at the shops estate sale. The title was signed but never transferred until I bought it.
Anyway I had a tough time leaving, the crowd of guys wanted to know all about it and tell me about the Hondas they had.

HEY! I got one just like that at home! Except it's a different color and it's a 350. What's it worth?

It got 98 miles on 2.1 gallons, partly around town and I do enjoy the sound of the exhaust. I was impressed. Quite a bit  better than my 76F and I've improved it a lot.
Dang it's already got 2 1/2% more miles on it!

I got a paint sharpie and touched up the logos. Thanks to whoever posted that idea.

I cleaned the back rim and spokes, then put on the new chain and lubed it. Maybe the order of that should have been changed.

any late photos Don?  Sure I'm not the only poster re Sharpie but I've recommended them several times on different threads-really work well and are easy to use-that is, assuming one has a somewhat steady hand.  Hope all is well...Larry

The sharpie was dried out on this side, It sat in the sun and worked better later. I need to do this side again.
The 9 bolt clutch cover is chromed as is the rocker cover and the 3 left side engine covers. I stripped a test set, they came out pretty nice so now I'm brave enough to strip these. I'm not too keen on removing the engine so the rocker cover may stay a while, it's in good shape anyway.

I think so Larry, at least for a while.
A guy at a bike shop was telling me all about this guy in my town that found a rare old honda and has been seen riding it. He couldn't remember the guys name but he is friends with this guy named Mick. Do you know who that guy is?
I said yeah it's me, and you were just looking at the rare Honda, I rode it 80 miles that day. I'm a legend in my own mind.
I fired up the hot rod K0 honda yesterday but it was raining. It needs a good thrashing. I haven't really sorted out the tuning since I put in the springs and KH cam. I think I liked the stock F cam better, I'm not real big on high RPM's.

I got the K0 836 ported diecast out and filled it up with gas, really for the first time since I put in the APE springs and retainers with the KH F cam.  I've been busy with other projects.
Holy Crap! I almost pulled the grips off the bars hanging on. I need to put the drag bike seat on it so I have a seat  hump to hold me on. If this thing is that fast I don't even want to ride the 1124cc drag bike. Scared an old man.
I blued the pipes, I think it needs the two fuel line fuel tank back on with no little fuel filter.

I took my wife for a ride on the sandy, On the way I rode past the PO's house and his widow was out on the front porch. We pulled in the driveway because I promised I'd show her when it was running. She walked to the drive and asked if this was it?  I said yes and told her it won the trophy last week.
We were both a little misty eyed but she thought it looked nice and thought Tom would be pleased. I re-invited the boys over to see this and the drag bike, slow progress on it.
