After getting the two colors I really wanted the tri-fecta of a gold one too. Mark B  set me up with a gold tin set and I got that one running. It has a build thread in case no one saw it. What's left is to decide on the exhaust, whether to put the 341's on it or wait until no number pipes are available. I think the 341's will go on it until I move them to my brothers k4.

Are the seats on the other 2 bikes OEM or Aftermarket Don? I've got a similar seat on my K0 to your gold bike, but I can see that it doesn't look much like the more original looking ones on the other bikes in your pic? ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

The red bike has the original seat with a new red foam, Blue green has an original seat I bought here and gold has a DSS reproduction.

That's good to know, from memory the K0 and K1 seat bases are identical, I've got a K1 seat base here, I might buy the red foam and a new cover from Yamiya and put it on my K0, and put my repro K0 seat on my hotrod K1 build. I picked up a really nice K0 "shorty" chain guard on Ebay Oz last week, so I might retire the one that's on it, it was on my rolling chassis when I bought it, but it's pretty rough. ;D

Bike of the month from a couple years ago has a problematic#1 carb, The green K0. I've replaced multiple parts, it still overflows repeatedly. I can't say how many times I "found" the issue and thought it was fixed.
I'm pretty good at closing the petcock but on occasion when out and about I get distracted and leave it on. Like tonight. ARG.

Red and green are happy, gold still a wee bit rough. I need to get on it. The 341 repro pipes are still in the box from cmsnl. I should install them on something.

Agreed, I'd like 4-4's on the Gold K0 but I'm secretly hoping to save the CMSNL 341's I have for my brothers bought new K4 and land another set of no number pipes for the Gold bike.

Blue Green has had the frame repaired and it left the side stand is a tad too vertical. I have a shortened one but it won't hit the rubber stop on the 4-4 pipes. My next move is to bend one in the hydraulic press. This bike had the shortened one when I got it, with a crescent wrench handle welded on to make a landing pad. Great for dirt parking.

While counting sprocket teeth on blue/green it was obvious the retainer bolts were not there. Probably for a while, the oiler and it's lock tabs were holding the retainer in place. I cleaned up a pair of nice 8 head bolts and with loctite blue and lock washers, put them on. It's 17/48 at some point it will go 18/48 after I get done thrashing it this fall.

I found some nicer rear foot pegs, put on new rubbers and gave the bike a polish job.  They stay up now and may stop grabbing my shins every time I walk by.  I mentioned in the racing page I ran it on a blacktop today, it still hasn't been as fast as the Sandcast on top end but that was due to the corn being so close to the road I was on.
My favorite headlight test road sucks for going fast.

I did get up to 105 mph on a better road. The top end went lean according to my meter but midrange cruise afr is around 10-1 so today I dropped the metering rods the last notch. They were already on the second down. I accidentally pulled a brass nipple out of the petcock. I drained the tank, cleaned the hole and used red loctite before I tapped it back in.
The petcock again had grit in it even after multiple tank flushings and a blow out with a leaf blower. I'll check the carb bowls  again but will leave the main jets while I test some more.
Moral of the story, don't count on a body man keeping the gas tank sealed while blasting the old paint off of it, my foil tape was loose on one side when it came back.  I refer to the guy as old 80% because that's my satisfaction rate with him. He's not perfect 8 0f 10 times, just 80% on everything.

Well at least he's consistent Don? I had my 350F tank painted by a local panel shop in '96, it took them 3 goes before they got it right, and I don't think they ever did another bike tank after mine. They brought it to me (at the gas station where I worked part time) with runs, the first time, then they dropped it and folded one corner in. The last time it looked great and was well worth the money, but it was lucky that I had a spare tank so I could ride it while I was waiting.

There was a clown in the US selling CB750 "Paint sets" and the guy who imported a one owner (but rusty) K1 had me install the "tins" as part of the bike's preparation to go back on the road. I gave the thing a service, installed a Dyna 2000 ignition, cleaned and rebuilt the carbs and it went like a new bike, maybe the best I'd seen of an old bike brought back from sitting so long. Last thing I did was install the new "tins", and didn't start it until he came to collect it. There must have been good fuel in the float bowls because it started and ran like a champ, and he was happy. We loaded it on the trailer and off he went.

A few days later he rang me to say it was running like #$%*. I told him to drop a float bowl to make sure there was no crap that had transferred from the recently repainted tank, and yep, the carbs were full of blasting grit. He kept asking me to fix it, but I told him how to do it himself, he was a cheap-arse and would have expected me to do it for cheap, if not for free. ;D

I bought a gl1000 tank from guy that said he was a helicopter flight instructor. It was a lovely no rust tank. Outside. The interior looked like it had contained a swamp. The facebook buy/sell page kicked my posts out and me off for posting about it. A few days of acid and a coating of Northern blue sealer it has worked for a couple years. To be honest I'm afraid to look in it but the Genuine Honda fuel filter still looks clear, at least not red.

I posted elsewhere it (Green bike) ended up with 110 mains, 40 pilots and needles in the top slot. The air fuel meter got a lot happier, lots of green and a tiny bit of yellow. No red anywhere. numbers going through the gears from  12.8 to 15-1.

I'm taking the 3 colors of K0 to my annual car cruise, I'm going to attempt 2 in the dragster trailer (in town trip) and ride one. I'll need to move the car over to one side.
Update, two are in the trailer, the rack for the back bike has to come out before the car can though. I rode the sandcast a bit, it's awesome, the gold bike is running like crap though. 4 hot pipes but something's amiss. I need to do a few tests and repeat 3K mile tuneup.

Nice pic! When I needed rear pegs for my KO a few years ago, I sent a note to JTMarks. He sent me an NOS Honda set, including the through bolt, lock washers and nuts! Going to miss that guy!

Me too on JT. I'm hoping a family member had been working with him to carry on. For us and for them.
Terry, I have a front wheel rack inside,  I whipped up another one and screwed it to the floor joists, I got the dragster, two 750's and the golf cart in it. I rode one to the event, my Son in Law drove the trailer home and I rode the sandcast.
I never had this many Honda fans stop to talk. I neglected my car show crew a bit.

Don..... does your Sandcast have the original horn? Curious if it’s any different than the later K0’s? If I just flip the tab (screwed to the horn), does a RHS horn become a LHS horn? Thanks, John D.

Pretty sure I have my original. The cover chrome is pitted, but it’s all there. I’ll post a photo soon.
