I dropped the freshly charged and new diehard battery in the old K0, and it fired instantly after sitting in the enclosed trailer since last September.
I'm a fan of my buddy's formula of half no alcohol 89 pump gas and half 110 Low Lead av. gas, with a dash of synthetic Amzoil 2 stroke oil. He uses in in his Indian and Simplex bikes.

385 miles since I dropped in the NOS speedometer I got on the sandcast site and the K0 tach that I got from a good guy here. I intend to improve on the miles ridden.

I ordered a set of BT46 tires, it's a little backwards swapping from Stock type Dunlops on Lester mags to BT46 on wire wheels. The diecast has always been a little confused.

The old dog is dropping cylinders at idle and low rpm,s it runs awesome above 2 or 3K It feels like a set of sensors or a coil is dropping out. It had plenty of voltage and a new charged battery. It may be a victim of the old "it fell over and now it won't run" syndrome.

Try giving the points a little scrape or Plugged idle (low speed) jets?

It's funny, I thought condenser then I took the cover off and bam, there's a pamco in it. I swapped it off of a bike I sold a few years ago and forgot about it. That bike would kick start with nearly no voltage, first try, every time.
I don't think it's carbs, none are leaking when stopped with fuel on, and it's intermittent. It might run great to the end of the driveway, drop a couple cylinders and pick them up again.
Checking pipes with the heat gun didn't work, it didn't want to read the chrome pipes. I have a new old stock dyna in the box. I'll either try that or slap a set of points back on it. I remember keeping the really low mile complete tec points plate but may have used it since then.

The dyna is on and all 4 are firing but I've messed up the carbs doing the attempted balancing. I may bench set them and start over I think the cables are fighting me. Anything over 2500 rpm is runs as good as ever, lower rpms not so much.
I got the new DID rims off the parts rack and replaced the one old spoke on the rear. I misplaced one new one and had used one old one. Later I found the new one and put it on today. I cut the old spoke and a couple strong thumbs got the new spoke in place. The BT46's are waiting for a bike to be on. My next problem is where to put the 19/18 Lesters with the older Dunlops TT's.

I sacrificed the old spoke to avoid scratching the DID rim. When I bought this set they were out of stock in a lot of places. I got one first then later found the other one. I forget where I got the spokes, but they were a set for both ends. I wasn't wild about them because of a couple bad nipples and I thought I was short a spoke. Later I found it where it fell and there were enough good nipples to finish it anyway. Today I was liking their look.

I thought I was lucky 15 years ago when I found these 18/19" Lesters, I didn't even realize that the bike attached to them was an 11/69 build date K0. Then two years ago when I bought out the drag racer, I got a set with a wide 18" rear. Those are on his old bike the K1 Rat Race. I'm hoping we can get him back on the track on it next month.

I got the wheels balanced in the hot shop today and cleared off the work bench. It's 92F* not so bad when I have the water and AC in the house for frequent breaks.

While reading the tips and tricks section on double disc brakes, I read that the K0's have longer rotor bolts to fit the thicker early hub. My K0 has Lesters on it so it's hard to know if it has the correct longer bolts. That began an inventory of the rotor bolt box. I found 5 of the longer ones, 5 sets of short ones and one and a half sets of long 5/16" ones for double discs. Somewhere here there's one more early bolt. It also still needs the lock tabs for the nuts.

The Lester mag did have the 6 long bolts for the rotor, so I'm good on that bike but still missing one long K0 bolt for that set.
1971 K0 report,
I just bought a K0 front wheel from Mr. Monkeyclaw on ebay. It has some rust on the rim but has the K0 hub, nice looking spokes, early speedometer drive and non-tapered sandcast type rotor. Complete with an old tire and axle. With tax and shipping it topped out about $210 which I thought was OK since it has all of the aforementioned parts. It's hard to believe that they didn't blow it apart and sell it all in pieces. Maybe their business plan has changed a bit.
I saw their young buyer at the Chief Blackhawk swap meet in Davenport Ia. I was priced too high for their program, but their trailer was already over half full. I like that they are auctioning off whole bikes too. Once upon a time, I bought a set of Yamiya 4-4 no no.'s from Mach IV motors who I believe is also them, as well as Mr. C. They weren't pleased with the $1200 price but honored the sale.
I also found a sweet unicorn triple tree in amazingly unbroken condition at the swap meet. I don't have K0 gauges for it but do have enough K1's to build a set.

The Mr. Monkeyclaw K0 wheel is really nice, some rust on the bead sides, I imagine a dog or some mice peeing on it. A true K0 piece.

I rode the diecast today, it made me smell like gas and oil. I must have added too much synthetic 2 stroke oil to protect the gas tank.
I'm taking the Lester mags off and putting new did rims on K0 hubs. I finally used that 2 hole hub and wide front hub I've had for years. I bought the rims one at a time during covid (they were hard to find) and recently got tires mounted. I did use newer looking Bridgestone BT 46 tires.

I've been collecting parts forever so #4 is getting a complete sandcast type front end, there's a bare but titled K0 frame for $800 over in Indianapolis, it's really close in number to my Diecast. It has no engine with it but would be worth more restored than this late K0 with a k1 title. I still have 2 blank number pad engines, one has sandcast guts inside.

#4 got a Tokiko #2 caliper and a good master cylinder. It has a k1 seat, I need to build a K0 seat from the pan and cover I have and swap this one to the shelf. I need one solid chain adjuster, along the way I had a bike with one of each types. The later K7 F2 and A ones are solid, but too narrow.

If I had a barn out back, there would be an indoor junkyard. I got a few parts bikes along the way, five from one guy, three from another, I think three and parts from my brother, One here, one there. I regret everything I ever sold but need to move a few more. I still have ten. Two are incomplete, this K0 and a K3.

I dug through my controls tote and between my old stuff and swap meet gold, was able to assemble
a full set of correct left and right K0 controls, the right is even for the single cable throttle. Now I have the Hondaman supplied handlebars and a nice unbroken unicorn top triple, the Tokiko #2 caliper repro fork tubes and original K0 front wheel. This sucker is getting more complete all the time.

Apparently, this bike had a 900 kit in it, the motor has a little rust, mostly in #1 cylinder. I'll likely return it to stock for sale reasons and keep the big bore kit just in case it's usable.

I go to the Chief Blackhawk swap meet in Davenport Ia. when I can and always go to my friend Dick's space first. He usually has a few tidbits of K0 stuff, I found bagged switch parts there. The first year that I was there he had a dozen or so toolkits. I should have bought them all.
