Need help finding CB350f cylinders...
« on: September 30, 2009, 03:02:16 pm »
I'm having a rough time finding usable cylinders for my
CB350f. The existing cylinders need to be bored, therefore meaning
that I need to get .50 pistons. Since I cannot find .50 pistons
I need to find a stock cylinder head so that I can put standard
pistons in it. I have found a 75 CB400f head but not sure if it
will fit?
Any suggestions?  :-\

I'm confused. Valves go in heads. Can you have it bored to whatever size you can find pistons for instead of .50 over?

Sorry, my mistake...I meant that I need cylinders. I can have it bored but the problem is that I can't find any pistons, except for standard, and we know they won't work if it is bored.
Thanks

Bore it for CB400f pistons.

Are those pistons available? I would definitely do that
if I can find those pistons.
Thanks

Far as I know, things should hook up just fine. You are going to want to check for sleeve thickness, though. Dunno how thick the sleeves are on the 350, and that's a pretty sizable overbore.

They also had a couple sizes up listed....
400 head is better than 350 head too, and it may be an easy swap. Something to look at... then, hey, you could drop in the 400 6 speed tranny :)
No.

cool link, I've got a CB400f block that needs a clean up bore (and a CB350 one in same condition)

So will a 400 head fit on a 350? According to the parts
list they are different numbers?

They are different. I think fitment is not difficult, though. The 400 head breathes better, from what I understand.
No.

Thanks mlinder, so will it bolt right on, because I have access to a 400 head if it does?

Two or four of the studs are different lengths for the 350 and the 400.  They are in the same locations, but are definitely different lengths.  You will need to pull them from the 400 block if you are going to install the head.  I'm not sure if there is a difference between the cylinders.  The 350 also has a bolt or two that you won't use.

I would suggest just putting in a 400f complete engine instead of mixing and matching.  That, or going with bigger pistons.  I bought a set of the pistons (link shown in a previous post) from CMC (?) and they fit nicely.  The machine shop I took the cylinders to was impressed with them too because they were made to tight tolerances.  The only issue you will have is finding a shop that will bore and hone such small cylinders.  If/when you find them, make sure they verify the pistons fit in the new holes.

I have a set of 0.75 over pistons/rings/clips if you want them.  All told I paid $300 shipped for them.  I'll let them go for $200.
