A series of questions
« on: October 04, 2009, 10:54:36 AM »
- I just realized that when i took my rear hub apart (78 cb750) there was no distance collar in it. Is this a must have or just a nice to have?
- since apart, do i need to/should i replace the piston rings on the lower seats of the forks?
- can the threads on the rear final drive flange (the peice the sprocket bolts to) be re-tapped? the ones the retainer screws into.
- can anyone tell me where this o-ring goes? is it around the hub or inside the peice in front of it? (not the bearing, the other one)

a must have, otherwise you'll ruin the wheel bearings in no time.

have you taken the bearings out and seen there's none? hard to believe that you been running without one.

The O-ring goes on the shoulder of the bub, and is held in with the chrome collar.. do believe it keeps grease in the drive.

whoever omitted that spacer when redoing the bearings has to be sent to jail. it could end in big tears. good that you spotted it.
