Caliper change

Looking to do a caliper change to a caliper from a 79 cb750. Was told it is a dual puck instead of a single puck. It is also supposed to be a bolt on item if i use the pivot from the 79 also. Also heard that 79-81 atleast are the same.

Are these calipers all dual puck? They look like single pucks in pics that I have seen. Do they just LOOK single and are actually double? I want to get one but there is no point if it is still a single.

eldar,why you want dual piston,i know that k8`s not fast enough to need it :D

If you're talking about the '79 DOHC bikes then I believe that they are dual piston.

Can't believe that they'd just bolt up though or surely it would be a standard mod for our bikes?

It was on a 78 F but the lower fork tubes cant be that much different.

This is for an sohc but I am just wondering if all calipers from the 79-81 or 82 cb750 are dual pucks.

I suppose this is not done much cause the dual disk is so common but I like this idea cause a dual puck would increase stopping power but would not weigh so much like a dual disk does.

You'll have to change your whole front end Eldy, the later dual piston (still a fixed/sliding caliper set-up, but with two external pistons) will bolt straight up to F2/F3 forks, but not the K3 - K8 forks mate, sorry to break the bad news to you.

I might go put a set for my F2 though, (I've got some in a box in my garage) they don't work all that much better, (heaps better than the K8's though) but they do look cool! Cheers, Terry. ;D

In the bikes I've seen honda didnt go to dual piston untill 82.  Thats what I've seen on the 650s and 500's.  Remember over 25 years god only know what people have done to some bikes.  Seen a 80 650 one with a drum front looked to be off a old cl/cb 350.
