Hello all, im new to the site but ive had this bike for 3 years now. Found it on craigslist for $300 running with title plus it had a matching set of INVADER wheels that were unfortunately not in great shape but theyre solid.. Guy i got it from was too scared to ride it as he heard the previous owner got into an accident on it. Turns out the previous owner got into a car accident. I know this because i rode this bike before the breakdown. Anyways It had a bowl gasket leak, fixed that and i was down the road, then came noticing the charging system didnt work so long rides were out of the question. long story short one day riding through a parking lot after eating lunch the motor locked up. Turns out after yanking it out the oil pump failed and it was toast. So then became the slow search for another. Long before i knew the difference in motor mounts between a SOHC and a DOHC i picked up a 79 750K and ended up customizing that one since everyone that either had a motor on CL or eBay thought it was worth a fortune running or not. So the frame sat. One of my best friends suprised me last week with a motor, +6 front end, forward controls, and a box of plenty to get my project going. It was his gift to me for graduating paramedic school. Plus the motor was bored out to 836 professionally as the previous owner was his neighbor who was a mechanic and machinist. So let the fun begin!!!!! (sorry for the semi long story into it but if you cant tell im very excited) I wish i had pics of how ugly the SOHC chopper was when i bought it but i dont unfortuantely but il always remember it
Heres a pic of my black 79 750 i know this is a sohc site but im proud of what i did to it with little money put into it
empty frame with square headlight (not a fan of square lighta but to each their own)
threw some wheels on to make a roller
did some sanding down as the paint was rough plus i thought a bare metal cleared might look cool
heres the cart of goodies my friend suprised me with
motor with polished covers on a little dolly
threw a spare tank and seat on to see what a rough idea vs bare frame looks like
+6 front end with polished lowers and brake setup
and here it is before posting this, pleny more to go but damn im ready to be ready for spring time riding
I plan on keeping a great log of this build as it will be my first true big build. all comments and suggestions are more than welcome please chime in. Thanks for looking
