Way cool. I notice there was no mention of price on the heads-up display but it sure would be nice to have on long trips. And just when i thought I have everything I need.

According to this site http://www.gizmag.com/go/4427/ it retails for $349 to $389 depending on the model.  I wonder what would have to be put on our older bikes in the way of sensors for things like the spedometer revs and gear number, though.

I would almost bet that there is very little difference between an old bike and new bike installation. The hall effect sensor on the wheel could be used in either application. I would guess that tach sensing could be done with and adapter off the cable, ignition or some kind of frequency sensing. The gear shift sensor might be the tricky one.

Overall the thing looks prety cool. I'm not sure that I would like the thing sticking up on top of my helmet like that. Perhaps they will come up with a unit that could be attached to the back of helmet with small display unit on the shield, or even goggles for that matter.

The shifter might be easier than one would think with a counted position switch. Besides the demo bike did not have a sensor for gear and whatever they used seemed to work just fine. Very cool idea. It would also encourage reluctant helmet wearers to finally wear thier helmet, not that bashing your head inside out is not enough motivation.

Now the air bag. When I first saw pictures of it deployed weeks ago I thought it was dumb at first. Just looked like a real good way to get ejected from the bike. However after looking at several crash clips with this thing in action I am a believer. It almost appears to keep the rider on the bike rather than getting launched over the other vehicle. Give them a bit of time and they will be able to work out something that would also work in conjuction for the passenger. Maybe this could be deployed like one of the air bag curtains from a center rest like the ones that the Gold Wings have.

I don't think you would notice the mont on the helmet as long as it wasn't heavy enough to move the center of gravity on the helmet.  Also the air bag looks like it would work realy well in the t-bone, but how would it work with an ally-op, or anything over 25 degrees.  This is the first one I have on the bike, I have seen them built into the jackets.

I believe the latest Goldwing has, or can be had with an airbag. Can't recall where I saw that, but it was some place recently.

What is it?  Looks like a night vision system and gass mask.  I wouldn't want to have all that hanging on top of my neck.

I don't know what that is, but it gives me an idea to market a virtual reality motorcycle system to the northern states so we can ride all year long! Just go out to the bike shed, strap this baby on, hop on your favorite bike, and away you go through deserts of Arizona  8). All without leaving home. You'll never be home late for dinner again.  :D

Or you wear it combined with skamania19's virtual reality software and picture her as a silent, sexy babe.  ;D

Seems to me, if they're talking you know what they're thinking. When they're silent it's actually a little creepy. ANYTHING could be brewing and whatever it is, you won't be ready for it.  ;) But a nice quiet virtual reality mother-in-law, that DOES sound like a money maker.

Food for thought... Perhaps virtual reality would really be not having a mother-in-law. Maybe some things do transcend money.
