Ask him what he thinks is fair, if it's too much walk away, there will be others.
If it's in your price range great buy them.
I always make sure there isn't something vital like brake pads or oil my bike needs before buying the "pretty" things to tart her up. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

ok guys so i got the bike going again and i set the valve clearances again and i am pretty sure everything is spot on. The question i still have is i still have a feeling of weaker air coming out of cylinder 4 from the end of the muffler compared to the other 3. I did check compression and 4 and 1 have the same. any ideas?

Do the exhaust gas/muffler/header temps feel cooler on that cylinder?

Did you swap plugs/leads to see if the problem migrated to the other cylinder?

Have you vacuum sync'd the carbs and verified / compared the affect of your burnt mixtures on the plugs?

I see a carb sync in your future Andy. ;D

i will do these things either tomorrow after work or sunday. i want to say that the temps on headers were roughly the same though. i did a carb sync but will do that again to make sure and put in new plugs and run the bike and then look at them and will report further findings
