« on: October 02, 2009, 09:56:44 AM »
im having trouble sliding the cam shaft into place, i know shaft and gear need to be seperated. first i had trouble getting the cam gear in and on the chain while the head was on, then i figured put the gear on the chain snugged tight between the tensioners before i slip the head over it, now i cant even get a lobe through the gear through the cut out for the lobes. no bike has stumped me like this, i need help.

Did you take all the tension out of the cam chain tensioner?

You put the cam in first, through the cam chain that you have tied up to the frame. Slide the sprocket on from the left side. Have the sprocket down off the shoulder so you have slack. Loosen the cam adjusterand pull up on it for maximum slack. Put the chain on according to timing and alignment marks as per the shop manual. My cam has a slot cut into the right end of it. If your is like this, face the notch forward and have it at the 3 o'clock position. Then, bolt on the sprocket. You may need to rotate the assembly 180* to get to the other bolt. I used loctite on the bolts.
