anybody ever paint there engine while its in the bike???

wondering if anybodies ever tempted it. im thinkin about it, whil i got it all semi bare!! im am pretty damm handy with a paint can, but not totally sure.
anybodies experience or advice is appreciated!!!

There was a thread on it a few weeks ago.  General consenus is, go for it as long as you're ok with it coming out half a$$ed.  :)

I guess if you really spent the time to prep and tape (possibly equivalent time to remove engine) it could work

My daughter and I did her CM185 that way. once you clear a bunch of stuff out, it's not that bad ;) We did the engine, frame, swing arm etc.

i think it will turn out ok, i was planning on masking and taping off most of it.

The PO of my F2 did, the fcuker sprayed black enamel over everything, the engine, the frame, the mud, the grease, the burned wiring, lovely........... :P

Maybe you could use some POR-15 engine paint that you brush on? No overspray to deal with.

brothers a body man, so i got some of his skills. and i can just wipe off overspray with thinner! cant decide between all black, or a shiny silver, or dull silver with gloss black head and cylinder.

So, you're not worried about getting thinners on your frame paint, and buggering it? :o

not really.
decided not to do it anyway. used a heavy cleaner and metal looks great again!! just painted the accessories all black.
