The pants around the ankles thing comes from prison, where they don't have belts and pants tend to sag.
yeah, I know makes no sense but what does these crazy days.

So maybe when you see one of these idiots ask him if he's advertising to be your #$%*.

Actually, it's the prison #$%*es who wear their pants like that, for easy access.

Interesting read tonight :)  Old dude talking here, 48

The concept of "Fads" was pointed out to me in a small micro way in grade 7"
Got to talking about in in a class one day with a very cool teacher.  We gabbed and gabbed, finally the teacher said to the class do you want to do an experiment and try and start a fad?  Sure, why not it beats doing homework ;D

We decided on marbles. This would have been 1972. Marbles were that last thing any kid had on their mind.  We had a hell of a time finding a store that even sold them, but someone did so we slowly brought them into school in those cool velvet bags.  We started playing in small groups around the school, within a week younger kids were bringing marbles to school, we kept it up for a month or so. At the end kids in the class were reporting marbles being sold in local stores and others that they had seen kids at other schools with the "cool" 8) velvet bags during band excursions or out of school soccer games.  We RULED!!!!!!!!! no one ever told the younger kids to stop and it went on at least until we all went to high school.  Cool teacher 8)

West Vancouver became the marble mecca for a while in 1972 8)

Sorry for the interruption, that all just came as a flash back.............

Rainbow suspenders ala Robin Williams?  I'll never forget in the 80's when 'Robin Williams Live at the Met' debuted on HBO and he came out on stage wearing those cool, bright red Reebok hightops. Needless to say, I had to have a pair. I also had the matching pair in black, and on days when I got bored I'd wear a red on one foot, and a black on the other. ;D :D

good lord, almost as if were were twins seperated at birth. i too did high top reeboks of different colors. i got the rainbow suspenders BECAUSE of that HBO special

What my friends and I like to do is this. If i'm sitting at a red light, in my car, my seat positioned normally so I can actually drive right, my hat on forwards brim slightly curved etc etc....

Next thing you know, 17 year old in a beat up (civic, integra, you name it) pulls up next to me his seat ALL the way back, seatback reclined almost fully, sitting way down off to the side, one hand on the wheel, hat all cockeyed, music blaring enough so the cruddy speakers are distorting and his trunk is farting...

So what do we do...we recline our seats, slide way down, put our hats cockeyed, and give him gangsta signs, while i turn the radio to the oldies station and crank it! Hilarity every single freaken time!
I did that once, but it was Joe Diffie singin about his Good Brown Gravy. :D

I don't get some of yesterday's "fashions"!

What the hell was up with bell bottoms and hot pants?

Well, I understand hot pants, but bell bottoms?!  Come on, it's just a stupid waste of fabric!

Unless all the extra fabric from hot pants went into bell bottoms...  Hmm  ::)

Maybe they ride bicycles?   ;D

Then it should be the other leg the one to be rolled up.

You are so right Bucky, when I think at the way those youngsters dress, I just can't stop laughing.

Then, the image of you wearing a kilt and walking a cat comes to my mind, and suddenly the youngster's code of dressing become naïve.... :-)

Tell that to the NAVY, the originators of the "bell bottom".

As a practical matter, the navy used "bell bottoms" so that pants could be removed with shoes on.

With dungaree pants, you can get them off in the water, knot the end of each leg, blow or whip air into them, and they become a flotation device, kinda like water wings.  In choppy water, any flotation aid helps you gulp air easier/longer.

Call me a skeptic, but I still think the prison explanation is presumptuous.  I dont think anyone really knows where pants sag came from, and are drawing connections where they see them.  Kinda like the Mayan prophecy, but more retarded.

in 2012 everyone will have their pants around their @ss.

I always heard that the sag came from slave days in the United States.

Is that reference to the 2012 prophecy by that one guy?

What I hate is the super tight tapered jeans that guys are sporting these days. For 34 years I have had on a pair of boots, boot cut levis and a white tshirt or thermal

I don't think the model they hired for the ad has the right body type.

umm... hipsters, they usually have an iphone or some other form of overpriced gadget, a thousand dollar bike and dress like it's 1977.
while I agree with some of their core values, the fashion is an abomination.

Or, is it just that the circus is in town?
