Hello all
« on: December 11, 2005, 12:27:38 PM »
Hi. Just found this forum, and it looks good. My riding buddy has a 1980 CB 650 Custom, and in the next couple of days I'm picking up a CB550 Super Sport,so this place should be a lot of help. Right now I'm riding a "79 KZ400. Well, not really riding because I live in SE Wisconsin!
Just wanted to poke my head in the door, and say hi.
Later-John
p.s. anyone need any early cb350 parts-got a parted 69.
A touch of grey kind of suits me anyway

Here's a couple of pics of the 550 I'm picking up tomorrow-worth 75 bucks?

Boy on a 550, I would dump the trunk and fairing. If you ride with a helmet, you will not need a windshield. If you want one, you can get a regular windshield and it weighs so much less. Keep both parts though. If you do some distance riding, a fairing and trunk can hold quite a bit.

My suggestion is stricktly for weight purposes. I have a fairing and I like it but am getting a headlight and signals to drop weight for quicker response. Darn fairings are heavy!

That ugly fairing and trunk are the 1st things to go! Was thinking more of a cafe. From what I'm told-I haven't seen it yet-it's missing only the side cover, chain, and the sproket cover on the engine. Hoping it didn't throw a chain, and mess up the block. But for the price I couldn't go wrong.

I like my fairing, I'm so light in the pants, rear end not front ;), that the wind will pull me literly off the bike above 80MPH.  She'll do 90mph with the fairing but it's hell on the milage. :(
