Could anyone tell me how appropriate a Dyna 2000 is for a street bike??  or is the collection of curves only of real use to someone racing??

      thanks!
            John

on a stock engine, i think it's pointless (no pun intended  ;D). once you start bumping up the compression or asking the engine to produce power in a very specific way- as with a turbo or peaky cam- the ability to have an advance curve more "advanced" ( ;)) than the capabilities of mechanical weights can be very helpful. for example: my engine with a 10.6/1 compression ratio will ping if i don't advance the ignition quickly. it's even noticeable with the gentler curves on the unit.

I know I have probably posted this before, but I used to distribute the ARD mags. After several years we had a chanced to do a direct comparison with a Dyna S. This was a 14:1 Suzuki pro stock motor. On the engine dyno, they were pretty equal up to about 5000 RPM, from there the Dyna S made more power up to redline. Probably due to the drag needed to turn the mag. The mag was the CDI pointless.

In any event, we told everyone up front of these results when they wanted the mag. Eventually we quit selling the mags.
