Dumping Gas From Carbs
« on: October 04, 2009, 11:26:39 am »
Hey guys, I just took apart my carbs to clean them and I just put them back together and threw them on the bike. Its now dumping gas from #1 and #2. What causes this? I'm sure I have a lot of work to do but how do I atleast stop them from dumping gas?

Also, if anyone has a guide for the steps of bench syncing handy let me know! I will continue to look.
Its hard to be wrong when you know nothing!

You floats are not closing your needle valves when the bowls fill with fuel. Try tapping on the side of the carbs after you turn on the fuel. This might jostle the needle valves into place so they close correctly.

Most likely, theres some trash or non gasoline material preventing the needles from seating and sealing correctly.
These bikes dont die, they hibernate until the right person wakes them up again.

Had the same problem when I cleaned out my carbs... I just adjusted the floats down a little.  Can't remember the original setting but went down a millimeter more than specked and it worked fine.  I think they just overfilled and came out the tubes.  See if this works and you really do not have to take the carbs off the bike.  Just unscrew the bowls and the floats drop down.

When you cleaned the carbs did you adjust the floats? If not, you should.
