You can buy brand new Nissan master cyl. From people like Dennis Kirk or on Ebay for about $135.00. I bought the 14mm and it was 2 two finger stopping jewel on my last 750.I just bought the larger 5/8 for my dual disc conversion and it is also a two finger stopper! If you don't care about stock looking this is an awesome way to go. you may be able to find a used one cheap as it is the same master used onthe Suzuki SV650.

The cheapest way to go is rebuild the master and put a new seal in your caliper you will be amazed at how efficiant  the stock brakes can be.

You can just see the master in this pic...

I made a fitting that goes  into the inlet thread on the caliper and has a grease fitting on it.. I use it to get calipers and master cylinders apart.. works slick..

if you don't care if its stock or not.
i put a 07 gsxr600 radial master cylinder on my 550. its really nice. and i'm having suzuki GS rotors modified to fit my front end.
as far as the caliper. you're out of luck unless you swap out your front end.
but with a good master cylinder and a drilled rotor you'll be fine.

BAM!!! Thanks for this info and the pic...this is the setup I am going to do...looks awesome and retains some most of the original controls...sweet!

it also appears that bar clearance becomes a non-issue. I am so happy the search is over...I was looking into full on new controls

Early GSXR750 M/cylinders are 5/8" with an integral metal reservoir - and are designed / angled for clip-ons.  They might look good rather than having a plastic reservoir sitting up above the bars.

Would be my personal preference for a cafe racer as it keeps the bars tidy.

is it pretty simple to attach the stock rear view mirror to the nissin brake lever and master cylinder?

I think the mirror post is on the mount. I don't remember. I always run bar ends or nothing on a cafe bike...

I threw on a Nissin conventional MC the other day, on a 74 CB 750, and it works very well.
 dont know what its from..
 a few clues..
Rectangular reservoir with sight glass, flat lid held by 2 screws.

Clipon that it was on was weighted.

Writing on MC is English with Japanese on the bottom

It looks like it is marked !/2 that has a CIRCLE AROUND IT, but appears bore may be larger.

Has a bolt on microswitch underneath.

No mirror mount, had lever throw adjustment

Any idea what that is from.. works nice..with single disc.

 Maybe the Buell XB9?
This pic shows an XB9 master, but it has the mirror mount. It is 1/2 inch bore.

No...
mine has a shorter, wider reservior, lever looks a lot like that, has a wheel you turn to move lever, in & out..

banjo fitting comes out the end, like sohc 4, same thread even!

in fact I bolted it on (extra banjo washer, Honda bolt is longer),

angled up the bar to get the air out and it pressured up. Think it used Dot 4 so now I am running Dot 3.5!  ;)

I am thinking tho the bore may be  bigger as the boot is around 16 or 17 mm, and the difference in feel is a lot.. (old MC maybe was not up to snuff)

Ahh-OK,
The CBR has the "wheel" type of adjuster, but you can't always go by the lever as the Buell master and this CBR master cylinder, the levers are very different, but interchange, as they also do with many other master cylinders.
The CBR master cylinder comes in 1/2(12.7mm), 5/8, and 14mm and look identical to each other so you have to be carefull to get the correct one that would work with your set up.
The CBR master has more rounded corners on the reservoir.

That looks like it! any idea of year? (hard & pricey to get a rebuild kit if you dont know what it fits!)

I even got calipers that look like that, but gold color I think..

We got to a point last year at the closing salvage yard, that we would put anything remotely interesting on our  buying piles, cuz we KNEW the price would be right.. ;D

Do you mean silver calipers?
The early CBR 600 had the calipers (usually silver) with 2 pins on top to hold the brake pads in, the later CBR calipers have 1 pin at the rear of the calipers. Your 1/2 inch master should have been on the early silver calipers.
 CBR 600 F1, I beleive.
Early and late calipers showing the differences between the 2 different styles of brake pad holding pins.

1st is early calipers
 2nd is late calipers

The gold calipers are probably of another bike, but MAY be same series"  Will look closer at them today, they are milled flat on top, and 1 has a bracket attached perhaps part of an anti-dive?

thanks for the info BTW, very handy..
