That says it all, someday there will be at least three parties and if not the maybe a revolution is in order.

And how will that work?  Even with the Electoral College, it would no longer take a majority to win an election.

The electoral college is a farce also, would a true ballot election be a huge pain in the ass? YES but I think if they can pull it off in 3rd world countries then we here in "the greatest nation in the world" ougt to be able to do it. The whole system is crap, politicians don't serve the people anyway, they serve the all mighty dollar. I'm for universal healthcare, but like I have said, our government will not be able to make it work because they will always find a way to make it work for them and their company payrolls. We had one revolution, who says we can't have another and start over? Oh, that's right I forgot, it might hurt the businesses and some people would loose some money so let's continue down this path.

Obama knows the Nobel Peace Prize is a joke just as much as everyone else does.  I think he's a little embarrassed by how obvious a joke it really is.

I must say, he handled it like a gentleman.  In addition, the news around here reported that he donated the prize money to charity.  Good for him!

Quote
I am both surprised and deeply humbled by the decision of the Nobel Committee.

Let me be clear, I do not view it as a recognition of my own accomplishments, but rather as an affirmation of American leadership on behalf of aspirations held by people in all nations.

To be honest, I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many of the transformative figures who've been honored by this prize, men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.

But I also know that this prize reflects the kind of world that those men and women and all Americans want to build, a world that gives life to the promise of our founding documents.

And I know that throughout history the Nobel Peace Prize has not just been used to honor specific achievement; it's also been used as a means to give momentum to a set of causes.

And that is why I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations to confront the common challenges of the 21st century.

Now everyone repeat after me...

"He wasn't MY President, he's not even a Conservative (anymore)!  But I voted for him twice because he:

was doing a good job.
was a great leader.
was the smartest guy in the room.
wasn't a Democrat."

Sounds completely sane and logical to me.  Now pass me some of what you're smoking, please.

I had to quote this just because of the awesome funny that it made for me.

my understanding is, that by law, he cannot keep it.

i have issues with dear leader and *shock horror* i'm not a sore loser, racist, or a right wing shill. nice simplistic generalizations to those concerned.

and once again i'll mention to anyone without selective hearing that vast majorities of those against this administration are not rightwing radicals. get your head out of the sand, if you have the guts.

yeah. numbers i see hover around 50-60 some odd percent. hazzah!!!!

regardless of my opinion of the man i try to refrain from attacks or criticism toward those citizens who support him, simply because they do.

if and when bo brokers peace in the middle east i'll be right there enthusiastically cheering him on for the deed. but the consensus is, at best, such accolades (re: nobel farce prize) are drastically premature.

I don't disagree with the fact that the peace prize part is kinda silly, look at some of the people they have given it to in the past. But I think some people today want others to believe that he is about to be run out of office, and that is just not the case.

I believe I can put one thing to rest right now.  Millions of illegal immigrants can't be wrong.  The U.S. is the best country in the world.  Granted, not as popular in recent months, but still the most popular.

All that proves is that it is more accessible, not popular or the best.... ::)

All I know is, I still pretend to be Canadian whenever I travel anywhere...it's not worth the trouble of the confrontation about where I come from...when I was in High School everyone wanted to come to America and learn to speak English, anywhere I went in Europe (in my age group). That has changed drastically and it's embarrassing. It started with Bush and hasn't ended yet...and won't change drastically any time soon.

Oh and awarding the Peace Prize is kinda lame...if I was anyone who won it before i'd be pissed...that's like winning a Gold Medal in the Olympics because they "thought" you could run the 100m dash faster...or that you would run it faster eventually.

satire from scrappleface.

U.N. Decries Obama’s Preemptive Nobel Peace Prize
by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace

(2009-10-09) — United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today rejected in the strongest possible terms the deployment of the Nobel Peace Prize to U.S. President Barack Obama, which he said was “reminiscent of George W. Bush’s disastrous doctrine of preemption.”

“The Nobel committee, perhaps persuaded by faulty intelligence and a hyped sense of urgency, made an historic blunder in its rush to judgment,” said Mr. Ban. “When Obama was nominated in February, he had just taken office…so the prize was awarded based on his speeches as a presidential candidate, not even for the good intentions that he has implemented in the past eight months.”

Wei Jingsheng, a Chinese dissident known as ‘the father of Chinese democracy’, is among the 176 nominees who lost to Mr. Obama, but said he was honored to have been edged out by “a man of such staggering accomplishments.”

“I was imprisoned more than 15 years for speaking out against a totalitarian communist regime,” said Mr. Wei, “A book of my essays was published from my writings, initially scribbled on toilet paper in jail. But I have to admit that Barack Obama has written two books and given hundreds of autobiographical speeches with thinner material than that. I bow respectfully to the father of global peace.”

people are quick to pee them selves over the numbers when it helps feed the cult of personality. but are quick to attempt some incomprehensible dismissal of less than glowing numbers.

if you pay attention to the news there are more than a few on the left (including that buddah sized documentary maker) who are less than pleased with bo's performance. so, both sides are not so pleased.

this (link) is one example where all bo's lofty speeches don't live up to the expectations of his adoring public. ask your self, if this was bushes term and these stats during his time, would they garner the same lack of attention?

below: proof our prez has actually accomplished something. eventually, the blame bush thing will wear thin; it's called the law of diminishing returns... and a cop out.

Anybody stop to think that it wasn't awarded for what he has done or will do, but for becoming the first black President, which in itself, is a pretty good feat.

If that was the case he would only have gotten half the award because he is only half black. Anyway, I thought he was supposed to be the "post racial" President.
