She's gone...
« on: March 21, 2009, 07:47:29 AM »
The new owner of my CB350F, Toby, and his dad came to pick up the CB350F today. I couldn't have hoped for more pleasant people. They were both very impressed with my bike. Toby is currently riding it home to Chichester, West Sussex with his dad following in the car.

Here's the last pic of me with the bike

Here's Toby looking very happy with his purchase, and riding off.

They were very, very enthusiastic about the 350 - just the kind of people I hoped it'd go to. They said when they get home they're going to get the other 350 out and go and make one of their mates jealous!!

I was slightly worried that mine would look a bit shabby compared to their other CB as that one had been restored, and mine does have the odd stratch, stone chip and dent in. But I needn't have worried they both fell in love with it as soon as they saw it. Also it did me the favour of starting with only a half-press of the starter, they remarked that it runs much better than their other one.

They did say I could come and visit any time I wanted. I think they will be visiting this forum. They may even post a pic of the two CB350's together.

Wow, two of them!
I'm sorry you had to sell it out, Loonymoon.
Someday I hope to have just one as nice as yours was.  :'(

Yes, kinda sad but I actually cried after I made the decision to sell. Now I know it's gone to a good home I don't feel to bad.

No other bike for me. I have my X8 400 which I use to commute and sometimes go out for rideouts on.

If I had time/money for a classic I would have kept the CB350.

Here's a slide show of shots of my ex-350.  http://www.flickr.com/photos/26717761@N08/sets/72157614036744655/show/with/3372150657/

Love the Wyoming reg sticker.

yeah it's great isn't it, it's punched as Apr (i think) 1977, if you look carefully you can see it's stuck on top of 2-3 other Wyoming stickers! A bit of history that's lost on a resto bike.

Loony, I'm sorry.  I know it's sad, but at least you know they'll appreciate the bike and take care of it.

+! here. It made me uneasy seeing that last picture and think we all can relate. Your ex has it over a resto and it's evident history gives it extra appeal. Don't be a stranger here either, alright?

X8 400? Pish posh! You're hooked and there's no denying it. Someday when the stars align and you give in to impulse... you'll wake up and there'll be a SOHC in your parking space; like waking up after a new years eve party and finding out you got married.

OK, bad analogy.

I had an email from Toby the new owner a few weeks ago. He's managed to get a full original spec set of exhausts for the 350 and it's now looking as good as new. He sent me this pic of it.

Just ask them that, if they ever want to sell the bike, give you the chance to be the first to decide to re-buy it.

It is good to know you will always have the chance to recover something you loved.

although receiving the photo must be bitter sweet it must be comforting knowing she went to a good home. from personal experience i can say discovering your pride and joy has met an unkind fate leaves a sickening feeling of regret, that lingers.

The 350 Four was in fact Soichiro's favourite.

Mine, too!
I think BOTH of those pipes on that bike look great! I never knew, until you (LM) did this one, that there were any aftermarket pipes available for the Baby Four. What a beautiful bike, STILL wish I had one...or its 250cc sibling version...

A sad day indeed, but as you said...it's still a great feeling knowing the person who bought it really loves it and will appreciate it, hopefully as much as you did. It's like passing the torch.

I can't agree more about letting him know that IF he ever sells it to let you know first...i've bought a few things back that way lol.
