If you don't have MightyVac or any other kinds of assistance, I learned a couple things by experience:
1) open the resevoir and feather the handle in and out with your fingers, very slowly. Watch for small trails of bubbles coming up at you.
2) take a stick or something and every couple of minutes, gently tap all lines and also the master cylinder. Then go back to step 1). This helps to get the pockets of air moving around and eventually up to the master.
I don't suggest this as being better than the various suction devices available; only as a productive way if you have nothing.
Beyond that, patience and determination!!
