cb550 cam in a 500
« on: October 09, 2009, 06:52:11 PM »
I know i have see this thread here somewhere and cant seem to find it now, but my question is how true is it that you can just "drop" a 550 cam in a 500.
I am going to change the head gasket and have heard a 550 cam can really wake up a 500. Some things on my mind are the tach drive gear not matching and stock springs w/ a bigger cam.

Anyone actually tried this?

I think you're thinking of the 650 cam in the 550. I don't know for sure that the 500 and 550 share the same cam and valvetrain, but I suspect they do.
